I just started playing in the late spring last year. I missed the wave 7 announcement. But i was around for the preview articles. I did notice, however, that as soon as wave 7 was released, wave 8 was announced (gencon). Is this a common thing for ffg? If wave 8 is on the boat and hopefully in the next month or 2, can we expect to see a wave 9 preview shortly? ... When was wave 7 first announced? I would expect to see wave 9 released at gencon.... So ffg should give us something of a preview, then 5 months of agonizing silence, then some in depth articles and then, boom! Gencon release and wave 10 preview.... Is this accurate?

Wave 9 announcement early April. Scum epic mid or early March. Possibly a rebel vet pack in March as well.

I would be surprised if we had more than 2 or 3 weeks with only imperial vets announced.

I guess we will see the Wave 9 announcement by Feb with previews in early Summer.

I imagine a new Epic will be announced before Wave 9.

I'd like to get Wave 8 on the table, enjoy it, blow stuff up with it, and enjoy the heck out of it.... before they go and distract us with new baubles when our newest toys are barely out of their wrappers.

I'm fine with no Wave 9 until the summer. I have Armada and Imperial Assault to try to keep up with too, and the pace that the collected games are going at is kind of insane.

The sooner the better, but probably not till February when Wave 8 arrives.

We won't get major announcements until the current equivalent is on the shelf. IE, we won't know anything about Wave 9 until we are playing with Wave 8, and likely several weeks after we have it. There will be an announcement shortly after Imperial Veterans is on the shelf, also, either a Rebel or Scum equivalent, or a Scum Epic Announcement.

The Scum epic is the only thing that may come at any time. Otherwise, we know what we will know until something gets released.

Actually depends on when FFG sends out info to retailers. Technically, we got info of the existence of Veterans before they posted the announcement.

If we're following FFG's usual pattern, Wave 9 will be announced around/shortly after Wave 8 is released.

So probably around the end of the month.start of February like others have suggested.

FFG usually makes big announcements like a new X-Wing wave at a convention or trade show. Obviously, in the summer time, that has been Gen Con (and that's where the even numbered waves have generally been announced).

Last year they announced Wave 7 at Star Wars Celebration Anaheim in April, but that won't happen this year (because Celebration will be well into July this year, only a few weeks before Gen Con - also in London, but that's less of a problem).

A good number of FFG's major spring announcements have come at the GAMA (Game Manufacturers Association) trade show in March. Last year, that's where Imperial Assault wave 2 and Armada wave 2 were announced, and in 2014 it was where we got the Rebel Aces announcement.

I'm betting that we get a major X-Wing announcement at GAMA this year. It's the obvious spring time venue for this, assuming Wave 8 is on shelves by then. This year, GAMA will be March 14-18.

Hopefully after Wave 3 Armada is announced.

Something should be announced soon. It feels as if there is big hole in their miniature releases.

Personally, I'm getting tired of these announcements that happen months in advance of actually having the product available. What is so wrong with finally letting us get our ACTUAL hands on a new release and messing around with it for a while before they just start teasing us with the next release. The way a lot of things seem to be going is that the next release gets spoiled and "figured out" so long before it actually comes out that there isn't much fun left in getting it when it finally does come out.

Would you rather get information from retailer solicitations or from a preview article? There was a brief period before the announcement that we only knew stuff from the solicitation sheet. I like to actually see the product, rather than blind speculation.

What you will note however is that "Imperial Veterans" was announced around a week after the T-70 and TIE/fo hit the shelves. i.e. an interim release announced following an interim release.
