What are you considering playing for the Store Championships?

By VisionVoid, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

If the Bantha Rider comes out in time for the Store Championship at the FFGC, I plan on running this list:

"Laugh it up, Fuzzball."

  • Elite Bantha Rider (9)
  • Wampa (5)
  • Wampa (5)***
  • Elite Nexu (6)
  • Elite Nexu (6)
  • Nexu (4)
  • Nexu (4)
  • Upgrade: Beast Tamer (1)

Thematic and fun, I plan on winning no games. But the fuzzball factor here will be second to NONE. And that, to me, is a great big bucket of win.

*** Wampa could be swapped out for a Tusken Raider, provided I feel like breaking the fuzziness in favor of taunting my opponents with my perfected Tusken warcry. UURRRRRRRTTTT!! UUUURT!!! UURTT!!! OOORTT!!

You should at least run 1 hired guns instead of 1 reg nexu, just so you have at least a remote chance of doing objectives.

IMO it's going to be very hard to position list with all large creatures and even harder to do it efficiently (all together they take 22 spaces :o )

A few lists I'm thinking of:

7 Acts - 11 Figs

eSabs + Targeting Computer

I'm counting 26. He literally could not start on some maps and would have overflow. You better hope you get initiative on the Stormtrooper map as well, because the Jungle start zone is the only viable one with that list

Has anyone tried out using Hired Guns in conjunction with Luke's rerolls? Feel like they would combo really well in giving the bonus shots more umph. Something like:

Luke

Gideon

Temp Alliance

eHired Gun

Hired Gun x4

Nexu

I'd consider playing it but have no interest in acquiring or borrowing all the Hired Guns required so I want someone else to champion it to victory.

Gideon

R2-D2

Devious Scheme

Hired Guns

4x Trandoshans

Let's see, how hard all that Strain and Merciless can punish these Leia/R2-D2 command card shenanigans ...

Yeah, it's alot of spaces. 26 to be precise. And yes, this would mean in many many cases, I would be forced to spill outside my own deployment zone. Beast Tamer is there so that if I can interact if I have to. But as stated before, this isn't a list built to break balls, this is a list to bring for the hell of it. A list to say "Yeah, I brought *THAT* list, because...REASONS!!!" This is a list that you will fight and say "hey, those are some awesome painted models!" or "you're insane to bring that kind of list!"

Yeah, i'm insane alright...insane all the way to the bank!

By my count you still have one point left for Explosive Armaments, just for stuff and giggles. Or switch Scheme for Punishing Strike.

Cool idea. I'd take out the eHGs though and just put in 4 last resorts and upgrade to an eNexu or 3 Last Resorts and a squad of eTuskens.

Idea #1:

Temp Alliance

Luke

Gideon

rHired Gun x4

Last Resort x4

eNexu

Idea #2

Temp Alliance

Luke

Gideon

rHired Gun x4

Last Resort x3

eTusken or rTrando

You could then sub out another Last Resort for Explosive Arms on the rTrandos

But, the core idea is good. I've got 4x Hired Guns now, I may have to try this.

Yeah, I realize that. I actually forgot R2 is 3pts instead of 2pts - people don't play him that often down here

heres the post i made on where im going with my list

https://community.fantasyflightgames.com/topic/199834-release-the-beasts/

I've only started playing skirmish recently and though in most Star Wars games I play Rebels, in IA I'm more attracted to tactical soldier squads so Troopers naturally appealed to me. So I built a Stormtroopers strike team for my first tournament. Won with it but was really shaky so I refined it a bunch. And it became "Razing Kayn":

Kayn Somos

Imperial officer

Elite Probe Droid

Elite Stormtrooper

Stormtrooper

Stormtrooper

Vader's Finest

And that won more handily, but when I had been playing the first time, Kayn was next to useless every game, and got practically one shot by Chewbacca in one of them. And I still had yet to find a good time to activate either of his abilities, focus adjacent or free shots. Hell, he only shot twice all day. Really I was using him for his command card which fed into what I was trying to do strategically which was stack successive activations back to back to gain a blitz type advantage. And that's what the officer was for, moving Kayn so he could do that one job. And the second tournament never saw much change in that department.

He's just too fragile (somehow) for me to risk on the front line, and I'm paying to much to have him in the back line not particularly advancing the objective. But his card is so good it's hard to kick him. Plus the list name makes me happy. So I don't know what I really want to do with it. Tried building elite Rebel Troopers but I'm not happy with it yet. I might try to get it ready for SC but will likely sick to what I know, for now.

The importance of a good list name is an often criminally overlooked aspect of this game. Well played, gents. :P

How about either: Dropping 501st to upgrade rStorms to rSnow and add Rule By Fear OR Drop Elite Probe to upgrade rStorm to eSnow and add Rule By Fear OR Make the eProbe an eOfficer, drop rOfficer and 501st to upgrade rStorm to eSnow.

I would for sure get some snowtroopers in there. The healing and condition removal is strong and can also help Kayn a bit I think. The eOfficer could help get a bit more mileage out of Kayn (and his fine surge ability).

I'd love to get the effects and strengths of some snows. But if I go with that I have to gut the core strategy out entirely and basically go straight Swarm. Not that that would be bad. But I'd like to get more of a strike team, Rambo, door buster commandos feel. And as far as I'm concerned, Finest is not going anywhere. It is so crucial to the way I play and so far succeeded with these guys I can't cut it. If I was going to do Swarm I thought of cutting Kayn and the officer for another eTrooper and Finest, that's how good it is. But again, have to gut the core strategy.

Current thought is to down size the Droid and net something out of it. I mostly use it as a distraction and objective tag. But the generic version lacks the speed to a excel at the role.

Got a few games in with this last night:

Vs Twin Blast:

First round was me using Get into Position on the RGC space station map, Incoming Transmission (the one with the Data Room).

First round, not much happened besides a few shots being exchanged and me taking one terminal and contesting another, allowing me to move 4 focused rebel trooper into the date room in the 2nd round. Shots were fired, few deaths. Got a few damage on Luke. His R2 Terminal Networked and he sent Diala in after my Troopers in round 3, focused and ready to fight. One Sarlacc Sweep later I was down a trooper and the other at one HP remaining. My other Troopers shot through the open door to kill Luke.

R4: mostly uneventful, some positioning. Twin Blast had the room and got 10vp.

Round 5: I used Gideon to move my last Focused Sab into position near Leia... Then used Maximum Firepower and Lock On to

kill Leia in one shot and use Blast to finish Gideon. I then killed his final Saboteur for the win. Very close game against a skilled opponent.

Tl;Dr: Reinforcements plus massive amounts of focus is great for this list.

Game 2 vs eSnowtroopers, 2x eStorm, 2x eprobe, eofficer on Cantina, Engineering

This one went a lot faster. We both deployed a bunch of Troopers to the south and a few guys into the cantina. I took both terminals, but only after 4 of my Troopers got Grenaded for 2 damage. 2nd round, he got a component interaction, but I went on a rampage through his Troopers. At the end of that round, the final table of the X-Wing Store Champ we were co-TOing finished up so we called the game there after checking his Command Deck and seeing no Reinforcements in the next 2 cards of his deck.

Impressions: Although not as mobile as Imperial Troopers, the Rebel Troopers' easy access to Focus makes them hit like a freaking truck. On top of that the Sabs not being linked to Luke for their reroll makes them incredibly mobile, hard hitting sons of guns. Can't wait to try this list some more.

In a casual game the other night I tried:

Worked well. Elite Troopers were great. Move into Position, white die and 5 HP + reinforcements made though difficult to deal with.

2x Hired Guns. (8)

What do you think won you your matches?

Well, I tried to get one of the twins as soon as possible, not focusing that much on other units. Also blasting several troopers at once now and then helped too. Used hired guns mostly to lure enemies i want out or make uncomfortable attack choices and of course grabbing objectives, nexu for mostly early attacks+blocking if possible. Liked the elite one, he can usually withstand several attacks. Droids are perfect for finishing any high cost figure, especially with a white die, although you have to very protective of them since they are pretty squishy (keeping 3po near them really helps).

I don't think putting elite HK's is worth it since I almost always had no problem shooting who I wanted without anyone blocking los

Cool, thanks. Good to know that the eHK's LoS immunity isn't a deal-breaker. And yes, Hired Guns simply create awful choices for your opponents.... Here ya go, shoot this spud as opposed to this better tasty target, who then shoots you again. If you ignore it then you get shot AGAIN! So, you have to deal with them, grrrr!

eNexus are good with the right support, I think.
