Help with my lists. CC welcome

By Astel, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So my first list I have played two times. Won 1, Lost 1. I am happy with some of it, then eh on the other. Poe does amazing and can't complain too much on his part. The B and Y wing though, they do their job, but never satisfied so this is were I need the help. But looking at anything for this list.

100pts

Poe - BB8, Opportunist, Shield Upgrade (41)

Dagger Sqd Pilot - Ion Cannon, Hull Upgrade (30)

Grey Sqd Pilot - Ion Cannon Turret, R2 Astromech, Hull Upgrade (29)

Then for the next list just something fun were I can either use a fun X Wing (65 or 70) Pilot along with Horton Salm and a filler ship. So something that screams fun but a little competitive.

Based on the assumption that you're working with 1 core (old), 2 core (new), Rebel Aces, Imp Aces, and a single X-wing, A-Wing, Z-95 and Falcon expansion.

I think your first list starts off by focusing a little too much on control, with not enough damage output. Giving your highest PS pilot Opportunist will mean he won't be able to trigger it very often. There's nobody to strip tokens for him.

How would you feel about this:

Poe Dameron (31)
Push the Limit (3)
R2-D2 (4)
Gold Squadron Pilot (18)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
R2 Astromech (1)
Luke Skywalker (28)
Push the Limit (3)
BB-8 (2)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Total: 99
Your PtL's will give you plenty of options when maneuvering. Moving BB-8 to Luke gives him some repositioning. Don't forget that if you barrel roll, then use push the limit to boost (for instance) your green maneuver will immediately clear the stress, giving you your action to focus or Target Lock.
Barrel Roll then boost, then maneuver. Or Barrel Roll then maneuver then boost, or even just maneuver, then boost gives you a lot of wiggle room making it hard for your opponent to predict where you will end up.
R2-D2 on Poe makes him very hard to take down.

For your fun list with Salm:

Red Squadron Veteran (26)
Push the Limit (3)
Hull Upgrade (3)
"Blue Ace" (27)
BB-8 (2)
Hull Upgrade (3)
Horton Salm (25)
Ion Cannon Turret (5)
R2 Astromech (1)
Engine Upgrade (4)
Total: 99
Not that special, but Blue Ace is unpredictable in his maneuvers, either boosting regularly or using that boost action to Daredevil.

I agree, and I know I won't always achieve the goal with Opportunist. I usually send my pilot with it after an enemy that stress or target locks for that turn. Along with that I know my damage output is low but always looking at the horizon for new strategies.

I like BB8, gets me out of hairy pickles all the time and into better positions. Just sucks that I have to rely on Green Maneuvers so much for BB8 and R2. In my area, if I take R2-D2, it usually paints a big target on my pilot that has him and I usually lose him within the first turn or second because my opponents will usually focus on him. What is the best strategy to avoid all that?
