Help build an MC80 list, preferably with Rogue squadron ball?

By hammerghast, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

Title says it all here, looking to build a solid 400pt list with my shiny new pair of MC80's and now 3 Rebel halves of the Rogues and villains packs.

I would like to brainstorm first about squadrons exclusively:

  • How far should I go? I've seen everything from han and dash tag teams to the full 100 points used in such lists.
  • What roles can each new Rogue play?
  • Any major synergy with wave 1 fighters or can they be disregarded most of the time?

Feel free to suggest any approaches with a given build in the meantime but I know this isnt the mcdonald's drive thru of fleet builds, and after some discussion of the points above I'm sure I'll be able to have some kind of first draft ready.

Thanks!

Jan Ors. As an Imperial player, she has been a subject of repeated frustration.

Jan combines with xwings to create escort group with braces and intel. Thats the only real synergy combo i have noticed.

Yt1300 are better escorts for bwings than xwings, but suffer from the same low speed as b's.

Yt2400, rogue squadrons that are good anti squadron that can intercept without activations.

4 YT2400's supporting the MC-80 can be great. The MC-80 lacks the ability to field a Gunnery Team and these will more than make up for that. If you are brave, you can try sending the MC-80 between two ships, supported by these with a squadron command. There is a fair chance you will take out one of the two ships you are facing if they are support ships. (MC-80, ISD and to some extent, the AF Frigate are not ships that this is a good tactic with.)

B-wings can be used in a similar way, but then you will have to use squadron commands and they do not do as well vs enemy fighters.

If you are gonna send an MC-80 to slash between two enemy ships you are gonna want repair commands not squadron. Consider Walex Blissex so you can get two uses out of your brace and get it back next round.

That being said I think YT-2400s are the best option for escort duty. Good multirole squads and Rogue ability.

Thanks for all the excellent feedback, I just got my first build together considering much of it. As much as I want to find a place for Jan and support to make her worthwhile, that's just the one think I don't see complementing my YT2400 wolfpack like a simple pair of escort X-wings do, maybe some of you feel different.
