Redline and Target locks

By USCGrad90, in X-Wing Rules Questions

I want to make sure I have my thinking correct:

Tie Punisher Redline with Fire Control System and Cluster missles gains a Target Lock on a ship and immediately takes a second lock.

He fires Cluster missles, using Target Lock 1 and can modify the first attack with Target Lock 2.

FCS Kicks in to get both target locks back. One can be used to modify the second attack, after which, FCS kicks in again to regain the target lock.

Is this correct?

As long as you don't exceed two locks on the target, you're all good.

Yes it is, that is how I have been playing it. You target lock then attack (if in range and arc) use the second lock to mod any dice. Then reacquire both target locks, again. Attack again. Rinse. Repeat.

It works exactly as you think it does and it is glorious!

Works just like you said and it is killer.

Guidance Chips soon. Makes it even better.

Stay away from LRS, it prevents you from getting target locks with FCS at ranges 1-2.

LRS may not work well with FCS but it can still let you load up TL tokens on a ship at range and still have one to spend in close.

Yeah, it solves the biggest problem I've found with the Punisher (not being able to get a lock to fire ordnance in round 1 because the fastest you can move forward is 3) but replaces it with a much bigger problem later (not being able to get a lock at all when in close, which is horrible for him when using Cluster Missiles which he really wants to do)...
