Next Wave prediction

I was going to post an argument... but I'm not going to bother. It's just going to end up the same crap over again and I can only take 1 more warning till I'm banned.

So then you agree that Lando, Bossk, Mara Jade, and Grand Admiral Thrawn fighting bugs in the Unknown Regions would be great, right?

Throw Palpatine in there for good fun, he can make things go zap.

Seriously, I would love to see Mara Jade in this game, along with Thrawn. Thematically, Mara Jade has a much better chance than Thrawn though. I do like the EU, but people are split on it and EVERYONE likes the OT. So, I think the best way would be to focus on the OT first, and squeeze some EU in there as they go along (which is what they've been doing so far). The fact that we have the Royal Guard Champion and these new Assassin Droids prove unquestionably that EU is and will continue to be in this game, though the naming of them might vary from their original source.

Jabba's Palace is probably next as a small box. They could include a bunch of Scum stuff to finally get that faction where it needs to be, giving us the Rancor we want so bad and perhaps even Jabba himself (certainly Bossk!). Imperial Mara Jade can fit in there and any number of EU characters. They wouldn't need to bog us down with new Luke, Leia, or Han stuff - BUT they could include Lando as a new charater. Put him in prior to ESB, or before ROTJ as him trying to infiltrate Jabba's palace. Every faction would get something new, EU and OT fans would be stoked, and Scum would be complete.

The question is whether they want to have a Hutt crime lord be the net small or large box expansion. I could see a small box expansion including Gamorian guards and a villian pack with some new Hutt character with the box's theme being crime lords and stuff so we get Lando maybe looking for info about Han. Or we get a big box with the guards and a Rancor. Of course they could always just have it so the big box's campaign deals with some Hutt moving into Jabba's recently vacated palace.

I mentioned Shadows because it was Lucas made and intended as a non-movie movie (an experiment he repeated successfully with Force Unleashed). Dark Forces, while a fan favorite and a *excellent franchise, was not Lucas made (but was endorsed). Shadows would be an excellent point to bring in Zuckuss and 4Lom with the whole "chasing Fett" subplot.

Way more than even that if you remember all the Shadows stuff.

Is FF going to pull in non-canon stuff for new figures and expansions? I don't mean to kick off a canon debate, but I'd be more inclined to think that they'd continue to make unique characters or draw from the "official" material.

I think they will continue to pull Legends content such as the Royal Guard Champion or the HK assassin droids for example, but I don't think we'll be getting any named Legends characters such as Carnor Jax or HK-47.

That's how I expect this game will go content wise. Legends content is fair game, just no unique characters or galactic events.

The only non-canon characters we're likely to see are the FFG original characters.

FFG has shown they don't have a problem including "non-canon" characters in their games.

Dash Rendar, Jan Ors, Kyle Katarn, Ysane Isard, Prince Xizor and Guri have all appeared in X-wing, Armada, and/or the LCG. They even used a bunch of the dark Jedi from the Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight computer game in the LCG. We may see some of them in IA too, but just as allies or villains and not heroes.

Yup. All the Legends characters in the other games are awesome.

I'm just saying the evidence points to them going a different route with Imperial Assault.

They've already put EU/Legends stuff in IA, they just renamed it.

I'd like to see (sir Alec Guiness) Obi-wan and Princess Leia in original costume to go with our Luke.

We definitely need Lando. I don't see Jabba as a character for the game. His henchmen and guards would work.

Interior of Death Star would be cool, too.

So, from the original 3 movies, what kind of terrain haven't been represented in the game so far?

We have some forest tiles but they are mainly themed off of Yavin 4. It'd be good to get some Endor tiles, Dagobah would be interesting but wouldn't really fit the campaign.

We have a lot of interior tiles but could use some more to make things seem more Cloud City or Space Station interior like.

Maybe some rocky surface like the Asteroid field landing zone etc.

I know!

I'm saying, based on what we've seen so far, i don't expect to see named unique Legends characters in IA. That's all I'm saying. Obviously other legends stuff is already in the game.

And I'd be glad to be wrong on this with future releases.

I wouldn't mind a rebel ship interior. such as the interior styles of the Tantive IV.

Or, though not on shown in the films, Sullust tiles would be cool since it's been getting some 'screen time' in Battlefront.

All I know is, I want some mynocks.

Icetrompers.

I'm not sure if we'll get a cloud city expansion next they may jump to Endor just to get us a more diverse tileset, or do something like Sullust.

Actually sullist sounds good to me. Honestly that would be a cool variation. Don't know if it will be the next one but I think that would be great to have at some point. Introduce a sullistan hero? Cool

A post I made some time ago for sullust :

Hey guys,

Playing Battlefront, I was thinking that Sullust could be a great theme for a small expansion. We could have volcanic tiles without a Mustafar expansion, and I feel like it is more thematic for the OT timeline. It could include,

4 Jet Pack Troopers (to navigate the terrain)

4 Bith Criminals (bith are found on Sullust according to star wars wiki)

2 heroes,

- a Sullustan Spec Ops or something

- a Mandalorian Explosive Expert

The wave could include those packs :

An ISB agent (like Kallus in rebels)

Wedge Antilles or Lando Calrissian (if no Bespin pack in the future)

4-Lom and Zuckuss 2 pack(like r2 and 3p0)

I'd like an expansion that dosen't fit right with the movies timeline.

Twin Shadows gave more specific versions of previous terrain - Mos Eisley and Star Destroyer

So logically the next expansion will make a more specific version of a snow world. My hope is that we will get one of my favorite planets Rhen Var all we need are stone ruins. I loved those maps from the 2004 Battlefront.

My thoughts on future content in 'handy' bullet point form:

  • So far the core game is set in the aftermath of episode IV and TRH is set in the aftermath of episode V. It seems very likely therefore that the next big box will be in the aftermath of episode VI (which I think has a lot of good opportunity).
  • I don't think there's enough room in the narrative for anything interesting on Endor, Jabba's Palace or either Death Star (there might be room in getting the plans but Rouge 1...)
  • Before that though there'll likely be a small box which I think would be a great opportunity for them to go away from the films somewhat; Twin Shadows of course didn't really have anything to do with the films, it just had some of the characters in them. Basically what I hope will happen is that they'll go somewhere that we don't really know about and couldn't predict (or Dathomir, I would love it if they went to Dathomir).
  • RTH Spoiler:

I don't think a Bespin box is likely due to Escape from Cloud City.

  • As mentioned in many threads I don't think FFG plans on adding any distinct EU characters to IA; though I don't think it would be an issue if they did. (I agree with Patrick through in that detailed discussion of this tends to get heated and unproductive so I'm just going to state my belief and be done with it).
  • I think that adding Palpatine, Obi-Wan or Yoda would cause narrative problems and hope that FFG doesn't (similarly to the previous point this can be a bit of a landmine so opinion and done).

Been looking up Dathomir, and that has some climates that share the tiles we have now. Ruins, Jungle, and snow so that could be a possibility. It also has rancors that people really want.

Unfortunately, unless Sullust has jungles, FFG messed up on that planet as we already have Generous Donations which takes place on Sullust. And that uses jungle with imperial interior tiles.

(Funny, I didn't even read your post about Dathomir before posting this.)

I agree with Dathomir, that would be baller.

I have no problem with skirmish only release for palpatine, obi-wan, or yoda. But I agree they shouldn't be usable in campaign.

As we all know, the pattern is small box, then big box. Small box by necessity must use a majority of core tiles, so it needs to be in a place that has jungle like Patrick said. If they're concerned about sales all they have to do is put a rancor on the front like they did with Boba Fett and that problem is solved.

I think they could still do Sullist as a big box with volcanic stuff. I mean, it's a planet, that's big, I'm sure some part of it has jungles to justify Generous Donations. Dangit, we want lava tiles! I'd be okay with them skipping Jabba's Palace, but I do think it would be a good opportunity to shore up the Scum faction.

Here is what I want from an endor wave

Large box

Scout troopers

Ewok (early campaign enemies can be earned as allies)

Monster

Expansion

Speeder bike with exchangeable scout tooper/commando rider

Luke with seccond figure for riding speeder

Chewbaka/ scout trooper AT-ST

More Ewok

This is the reason that Jabba's Palace would work best as a small expansion, since most of the action would be set on Tattooine. A few special tiles, like Rancor den, prisons, audience chamber... but rely mainly on the base game desert tiles for the rest. Pack the box with two heroes, gamorreans, and random mercs. Problem solved. I would love to see more of Bespin, but not sure there would be a lot of unique tiles necessary for Bespin anyway. Mainly figures (Lando and maybe Lobot, don't really need non-combat Ugnaughts or Cloud City security). That sounds like figure packs with a couple campaign missions rather than a whole new box.

Twin shadows had plenty to do with the movie locations and characters of episode 4. Sand people, cantina, sand troopers,

I think they would most likely do ROTJ locations and characters as Prequels given they mostly get blown up post ROTJ.

While I'd love to see a bit more love for Scum, as a Skirmish player, a Death Star expansion would be really awesome too.
