Next Wave prediction

By VirMortalis, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Well I am probably like a lot of the UK players waiting for the Bantha herder to bring us the late running Bantha and Smuggler packs but onwards to guessing the next expansion

Return of the Jedi themed

> Forest Moon exterior

> Death Star 2 Interior

> Crix Madine (Hero)

> Emperor Palpatine (Villian)

> Scout Trooper

> Ewok Warriors

New Core Rule book with amendments and replacement cards for those changed equal to the amount supplied in core set 1.0

with packs including;

Name Scout Trooper

Lando Calrissian

Speeder Bike

My money is on either bespin or jabbas palace, its a little to early to go directly into return of the jedi since you still have two major cinematic scenarios to work with at least

Way more than even that if you remember all the Shadows stuff.

I hear the call of Billy D Willy.

Next box will be a small box.

I think cloud city makes a great small box.

As for "wave" this game has two wave structures. box with supplements and skirmish waves. i suspect to see more things to round out the hoth setting in a skirmish wave.

Jabba could be a large box. maybe a campaign for scummy heroes?

We need some tauntauns!

Echo Base Trooper Radar Laser Cannons or E-Webs

The lack of Tauntauns is disturbing!

Snow speeder with epic scale map.

Way more than even that if you remember all the Shadows stuff.

Dash and Xizor with an expansion we need

> Crix Madine (Hero)

It's more likely he'd be an ally than a hero. So far no established characters have been heroes, only FFG created ones and I don't think that is likely to change.

I get that people want to recreate their favorite scenes from the movies, but there were lots of other places in the galaxy that saw fighting in the civil war too. Let's tell those stories. I'd rather see a whole new location created for a campaign than just another copy of one from the movies.

Agreed, lets see some stuff that we haven't seen on the big screen already.

I expect the next batch of figure packs might include a Taun Taun of some sort, probably just a rebel taun taun rider.

Then we'll get a small box, Twin Shadows sized, that probably focuses on Bespin, clearing out the imperials left on Cloud City.

Way more than even that if you remember all the Shadows stuff.

Is FF going to pull in non-canon stuff for new figures and expansions? I don't mean to kick off a canon debate, but I'd be more inclined to think that they'd continue to make unique characters or draw from the "official" material.

I'm going to out my money on Bespin too. Mostly bright hallways and balconies plus a few darker interiors like the Carbon Freezing Chamber.

Recon on Lando and Lobot (in a similar fashion to R2 and 3PO pack) Bossk as the obligatory Bounty Hunter, and some specialized Imperial Trooper (perhaps engineers or a small vehicl)

Way more than even that if you remember all the Shadows stuff.

I think they will continue to pull Legends content such as the Royal Guard Champion or the HK assassin droids for example, but I don't think we'll be getting any named Legends characters such as Carnor Jax or HK-47.

That's how I expect this game will go content wise. Legends content is fair game, just no unique characters or galactic events.

The only non-canon characters we're likely to see are the FFG original characters.

I'm pretty sure games and toys don't have to follow the new canon rules like a book or a movie does.

Disney infinity star wars is not canon.

Battlefront is not canon.

I think the idea here is they have characters that are marketable to their base of gamers / toy collectors so they are going t go ahead and make the stuff that will sell to us.

Any characters we saw in x-wing are fair game for imperial assault and that includes a good number of the favorites already.

but i do think they will prioritize people who get screen time in the films.

Icetrompers.

I'm not sure if we'll get a cloud city expansion next they may jump to Endor just to get us a more diverse tileset, or do something like Sullust.

One of the threat missions shows that Return to Hoth takes place Post Han's capture by Boba.

FFG has shown they don't have a problem including "non-canon" characters in their games.

Dash Rendar, Jan Ors, Kyle Katarn, Ysane Isard, Prince Xizor and Guri have all appeared in X-wing, Armada, and/or the LCG. They even used a bunch of the dark Jedi from the Dark Forces II: Jedi Knight computer game in the LCG. We may see some of them in IA too, but just as allies or villains and not heroes.

So no updated "Luke Skywalker, Jedi Knight" for your Return of the Jedi theme? Granted, I just got the game, but every time I see "Luke Skywalker, Hero of the Rebellion," I just wish there was a Jedi version of him. If they did a Cloud City expansion as was mentioned above, they could do an Empire Strikes Back version, "Luke Skywalker, Jedi in Training."* However, I doubt anyone here is really fan enough to fall for such a money grabbing scheme as potentially releasing three versions of such a minor, unloved character. ;)

*Yes, I know, it's a terrible title.

Don't bother trying to argue it. I've tried countless times and it always falls upon deaf ears. People constantly going "blahblahblah not in the movies/tv shows, blah blah." despite the all the evidence showing the contrary.

Anyways, the next expansion is probably going to be a small one, so think Twin Shadows sized. AKA they probably won't introduce a new planet/climate as that would require many tiles. So we are left with desert/ruins/jungle/imperial-interior and possibly now snow. So expect an expansion to take place on a planet like Yavin 4. Also, like Twin Shadows the small expansion would need a hook to make people buy it and not just ignore it. So expect a popular character like Lando, Bossk, Palpatine (hope not) or Mara Jade (gasp EU! oh no!)

Bespin is in the Return to Hoth expansion.

I want Lando, Bossk, Mara Jade, and Grand Admiral Thrawn fighting bugs in the Unknown Regions.

No idea why you're salty. People were asking about Kyle Katarn, Dash Rendar, and other "named" characters from the EU. No characters like that have made it into IA that I'm aware of. Between that and the canon being clipped, it doesn't seem likely that they'll start adding characters like that to future IA expansions even if they are in other FF products.

It's his true nature.

I agree I doubt we'll see much EU pop up at this point, they'd want to go through the cannon characters first, and by then we will have more content to cover.
