Yt1300 and T-70 list help!

By MedicFett, in X-Wing Squad Lists

I was think of going with something like this:

SOLO AND POE

100 points

PILOTS

Han Solo (59)
YT-1300 (46), Predator (3), C-3PO (3), Gunner (5), Millennium Falcon (1), Tactical Jammer (1)

Poe Dameron (41)
T-70 X-Wing (31), R5-P9 (3), Weapons Guidance (2), Outmaneuver (3), Autothrusters (2)

Thoughts/suggestions?

Drop Tactical Jammer (1), R5-P9 (3), Weapons Guidance (2), and Outmaneuver (3). Add Engine Upgrade (4) to Han, and to Poe R2-D2 (4), and Veteran Instincts (1).

I would keep R5 over R2, it synergizes well with Poe's ability

I thought about running this duo (because they are two of my favorite characters from Star Wars) , only thing different is No Weapon Guidance on Poe, Lonewolf instead of Outmaneuver and Engine Upgrade on Han instead of Tactical Jammer.

How might you run this duo if, like me, you are lacking R2-D2, Predator, Gunner, C-3PO and R5-P9??

I usually outfit Poe with PTL + BB-8 + Autothrusters as I like the way he flies, and I'm just not entirely sure how to trick Han out...but it's just such a fun idea!

I would do something like this:

Poe with BB-8, PtL and Autothrusters

Han with Lonewolf, Dash Rendar, Luke Skywalker, Millenium Falcon, Engine Upgrade

Use the Asteroids with Han to get more defense while not being affected by them, Luke helps get the shot in and Lonewolf help both in defense and offense. Meanwhile, Poe is hyper maneuvrable from his side. The lack of regen might hurt, but I think it might still work.

Drop Tactical Jammer (1), R5-P9 (3), Weapons Guidance (2), and Outmaneuver (3). Add Engine Upgrade (4) to Han, and to Poe R2-D2 (4), and Veteran Instincts (1).

Paul Heaver won Worlds with R2-D2. *shrug* It's your funeral.

I prefer R5 on Poe as well. I've tried it both ways and you get better regeneration with him that way. At least I did.

Paul Heaver can win worlds with wathever he likes, that doesn't mean anything though. I always dislike people that play something only because the current strongest player won with it i like to come up with my own ideas and lists and in this case i see a synergy between Poe's ability and R5 that frees you from doing greens only to regenerate so you're much less predictable

I actually don't disagree with you. I was just pointing out that R2-D2 shouldn't be dismissed as an alternative because, while yes, Paul Heaver probably could win Worlds with whatever he liked because he's that good, he did in fact win it with R2-D2 this year. I'm one of the last people to simply copy lists someone else has done well with (in fact, I don't particularly like Engine Upgrade on Han, but it is a popular upgrade for him that many have done well with).

R2-D2 locks you into green maneuvers to regain shields.

R5-P9 locks you into focus action to regain shields.

Because Poe wants focus anyways, R5-P9 seems to fit better. The timing of shield repair might matter--R2-D2 is after the green maneuver, R5-P9 is at end of combat. You will always know if R2-D2 could help, and can boost or target lock while repairing (at cost of Poe's own ability as well), but R5-P9 could simply do nothing (assuming Poe takes no damage because of own ability, or is dead because was already wounded and killed before R5-P9 repair).

So, it is a matter of personal play style which suits you better.

Right, in Paul's case, since Poe was his PS10 ace hunter, doing lots of greens and boosting for shots isn't a bad plan, and R2-D2 helps with that while R5-P9 wouldn't do a blasted thing. Personally, I love R5-P9 on Poe because of the synergy with his ability, but again it all depends on what you need Poe to do.

Paul went with R2-D2 instead of R5-P9 to counter the meta. There is currently a lot of stress inducing ship running around. Since R5-P9 require an action to be able to regenerate, he's no good if you end up being double stressed by a stresshog or a twin laser or gunner tactician, or just blocked. With R2-D2, while being more predictable, you can guarantee that you'll regen a shield per round.

Both choice are valid and dependant on your local scene. If you expect a lot of stress inducing ship, go with R2-D2, if not, R5-P9 synergise better with Poe's ability. Same goes for the EPT. If you expect a lot of PS9 ship, go with VI, if not, go with either Predator or Lonewolf. Autothrusters is the no-brainer, unless you're short on points.

For my part, I favor R5-P9 and Lonewolf/Predator.
