New T-70 Pilots

By evanger, in X-Wing

From The Force Awakens Visual Dictionary, we have the following canon pilots for T-70s:

Nien Nunb

Jess Pava

Snap Wexley

and the new astromech M9-G8

I suppose they will somehow worm their way into the game alongside "Black One", the signature paint job orange and black T-70 flown by Poe Dameron.

ah future EU, can't wait to retcon those.

I'll pay close attention to franchise supplements if E-wings and TIE-Defenders make an appearance on screen.

They're all in the movie so seems likely we see them eventually. I really want Snaps.

I figure we'll see a 'Black Squadron' repaint released, which should include one or two of those.

And then maybe a 'Resistance Aces' or something that brings along the others?

Seems FFG wanted to space out the names to cover the time until the next movie is out.

THEYRE FRAEKING CANON!

Like, literally as canon as wedge and porkins!!!

More canon than Garvin!

And seriously, Jess Pava got a LOT of lines. Like 4 or so.

And the other two got like 4 between them.

They really should have been in the t70 pack.

also is that really nien nunb?

Or the names for some of the other pilots were not decided on until well after FFG were given the go ahead to make the TFA kits. There is a lead time after all. Poe and Asty were big enough to get toys, while Snaps and Pava were not yet.

...

You know what else is canon?

It's not like any of these pilots have a named ability that has ANYTHING to do with what we saw on-screen.

So there really isn't very much 'lead time', here, at all. Deciding on the names could have happened literally as late as the day before the cards and tiles were going to press (well after the plastic), and FFG could still have easily replaced the text 'Blue Ace' with 'Snap Wexley' or 'Red Ace' with 'Jess Pava'.

Nah, I think this is a case of FFG just wanting to space out the (relatively few) names we got over a lot of products. Which is probably smart, as I'm sure several of these guys (well, everyone but Ello Asty, actually) could easily re-appear in the next movie. In which case...no new pilots. What does FFG release for THAT movie, then?

Better to space them out...

who the heck was ello asty anyway? I couldnt tell.

Course, they could be the aces? Maybe nien is blue leader?

Who was the fat guy? Jek 2?

He seemed cool, cool enough to survive anyways. He'd probably be a PS 5 or so, maybe a cool ability? And the female pilot who was she? Too bad about Ello, like hey "hello wall!" paf! Whoops. Sorry Ello.

Ello, by the way was the alien dude who was not the suspected Numb pilot. Can't remember what those guys are called...

Snap is played by Greg Grunberg an also appears as a teenage in Aftermath

Jessika Pava is played by Jessica Henwick (did they get lazy with character naming here?)

So far all of the named guys are part of Blue Squadron.

In addition there's Kare Kun (human female) and Iolo Arana plus some other guys as well as Dameron's mom, Shara Bey (A-Wing pilot).

Remember, ALL of this new stuff including books, comics etc is canon.

We have yet to see the T-85 X-Wing, which is what the New Republic flies. The Resistance flies the T-70 which is an older model.

Jek Porkins is fat.

Come on.

Sullustan, no? So they had another Sullustan, Nien Nunb in the same squadron? That's where the confusion comes from then?

Spoilers, Jar Jar Binks is Snoke,

Wexley. Just realised it's the boy from that pathetic excuse for a novel Aftermatch. ****...

FA is so DERP, that having 4 lines is considered a lot.

Poor phasma trobmone

Whoops! Sorry if I spoiled anything for anyone. I edited it.

Anyways, wow! That's really cool that Nien is in there. So the fat guy was Wexley? Who was the African fella?

So they are Blue Squadron hey? Well darn, they all did pretty good I thought. Good enough to warrant pilots cards at least! Maybe we'll see these guys in a new kit sort of like the Rebel Transport?

Me too! Well, except I'm listening to the audio book with my 10 yr old and we like it.

As far as I know, the Resistance only has two squadrons, Blue and Red, and Poe (with callsign "Black Leader") leads both.

Sure, but I mean...it's new releases, either way.

Another T-70 release using the current paint style, although red instead of blue, and then Poe's black T-70. At least two more.
