Some painted Imperial Assault: Return to Hoth miniatures
These are incredible! How long have you been doing this?
Here's my noobish minis for Hoth (more to come):
Thank you! So much of this is just practice and just reading up on techniques like drybrushing, layering, basing, washes/inking etc. I've definitely improved, but I still have a lot to learn. Yours are a good start. You might want to seal them at the end with a matte sealant to get rid of the shine (such as Testor's DullKote, which you can get at Michael's). Other than that, just check online for articles, and keep painting. I looked at some of my miniatures 4-5 years ago and there's such a big difference now, so it just takes time and practice.
For the HKs, I just painted 2 dark brown and 2 black (so we're doing the same color scheme). An easy and quick way to do a nice scheme with them is to just take dark silver and bronze, and then lightly drybrush on top of the base color of black or dark brown respectively (after it has dried). Then do the same thing with lighter silver and bronze/gold, especially places where the light would shine and edges. This will look a lot more interesting than solid colors. I've been using techniques like this more and more instead of just using washes all the time (although I still use those when needed).
For the wampas, you might want to use a lighter brown wash for parts of the fur to break up the white. If you look at screen shots from Empire Strikes back, you'll notice that they're not pure white in several spots. You might be pretty happy with the results, and this doesn't take more than a minute or two (just don't overdo it). And if you're not happy, it's pretty easy to repaint white.

Thanks! Is Lord Vapor posing in disguise as Supreme Leader Smoke?
These look great, nice job! Really like your Wampas.
