Hello fellow pilots,
I'm jumping on the wagon of piloting a Palshuttle/Pulmobile/Shuttle+Palpatine build. As it's common these days I'm including Vader with alongside Soontir to go with it.
I've been play testing this, but granted didn't get the chance to play it as much I'd like (4 games), to get a feel of the list and try some variations on upgrade cards.
My main doubts however, and for which I'd like your expertise, is the trade offs between Vader's upgrades. First, to give you a feel of the overall list:
Vader
TIE/x1, Lone Wolf, Engine Upgrade, Advanced Targeting Computer
Soontir
RGT, PTL, Autothrusters, Stealth Device
OGP
Palpatine
Now, I have a few options to play around here. I'd prefer to take Predator instead of Lone Wolf on Vader. From the my play tests I don't think I tend to use Lone Wolf that much, since
either Soontir is around or the Shuttle is around (the latter more towards mid/end game). Sadly I'm 1 point short. So here are my options:
- Replace Stealth Device on Soontir for Targeting computer
- Really "afraid" of this. Never played that much with Soontir without SD. Yes, it still has Autothrusters, and yes there's still Palpatine. But is it enough? I think people tend to either go for the Shuttle or Vader first too, which means it Soontir could still hang for a while, but if they decide to target Soontir first, it will go down very fast without SD.
- Drop Engine Upgrade on Vader

THIS is where my doubts lie on at the moment. To be honest, I think I've played about 2 games with EU and 2 without it and I'm not sure if I'd miss it or not. I'd play Vader differently for sure, since
I'm used to it on Soontir. But is it really a killer upgrade? Dropping EU and replacing Lone Wolf with Predator would also give me an extra 3 points that I could use either for initiative (97pts) or add some modification to Vader (Stealth Device for instance) or FCS to the Shuttle. - Assuming I dropped EU on Vader, I also have the choice of not replacing Lone Wolf at all, leaving me with an extra 4 points, which I'd probably use to include Sensor Jammer on the Shuttle.

I know this very much ends up being a personal choice of how one likes to fly, but I'd still like to hear your thoughts on this.
Happy new year!
