Mini pocket page for upgrade cards

By VanorDM, in X-Wing

I saw this on Armada but haven't seen it here. I know a lot of people have been looking for this...

Haven't tried it myself, have the LGS ordering some so I'll maybe get some this week. When I do I'll post a review. But this is clearly a solution for upgrade cards that would work better than most I've seen.

Edit: I see they're on backorder until 1/8... Was on backorder until 12/30 before, not sure if that means they sold out or they haven't gotten them yet.

Ultrapro was releasing something similar also - nice to have more options.

The Ultrapro one is I believe a folio which is nice... But I know some people have had bad experiences with those. Plus you can't expand it.

Myself I put mine in a normal sized 9 pocket page 2 per pocket, and have 23 or so pages of upgrade cards. That means I'll need at least 2 packs of these... Just for X-Wing.

And before anyone asks, no I don't have a problem, I'm just an enthusiast... I could quit any time!

I've given up on the cards altogether for this game. From now on I'm printing squads out from a squad builder. It cuts setup and teardown time down by 1/3-1/2.

That's fine as long as you don't play in a tournament.

I ordered the Ultra Pro ones based on photos that showed the upgrade cards with protective sleeves in the pockets. I'll try to give a review when they get here, probably sometime next week. The only thing I didn't like was that they top load instead of side load. I worry it may be hard to get them in and out.

They have actual 16 pocket binder pages just like these coming too, they've been on preorder at CoolStuff for something like a month or two now though.

Shouldn't be much worse than the top load pockets for pilot cards.

My FLGS has the ultrapro pages in stock now, so hopefully CSI and MM orders will head out soon.

I went to ring binders as it reduces the work of re-organizing things when new expansions come out.

I got one of these through Massdrop:

http://www. BALEETED

It fits 9 cards each side of the page, and they do fit in there with sleeves on them, no problem. The one from Massdrop came in this sweet starfield cover design, but it looks like primary colors only on their webpage...

EDIT: Never mind! Here it is:

And that first link was wrong. which is why I deleted it, because it was for the 9-pocket regular size card binder.

you don't take all the HEAP O' CARDS to a tournament

I just received my order of the Ultra Pro pages and they're nice, they are the top end of their quality. The pockets fit the upgrade cards easily even with sleeves on them. I would say that the individual pockets may be a little too big but they do hold well. I just need to get the pages in a binder now and see how they handle when flipping through. So far I like them, makes organizing these a lot easier than what I was using. One thing I do believe would have been a better design would be if the pockets were all side loading, mainly because I think the cards may try to slip out while flipping through the pages. I'll try to get some pictures tonight and post them.

Same. If it doesn't need tokens it stays in the box.

I took a picture to show what a single page looks like but I can take some more, I was unfortunately busy last night so I couldn't take more detailed shots. I'll try to get some more later.

I use these ones... http://www.chaoscards.co.uk/accessories-c1/folders-c5/ultimate-guard-ultimate-guard-mini-american-9-pocket-flexxfolio-mystic-space-p126861

Perfect size. The elastic band is a little too tight but not a huge issue.

A friend of mine picked one of these up, and apparently they won't take cards in FFG sleeves (at least in the bottom row). Snugger card sleeves might fit, but it's something to be aware of.

Unless your friend has a defective product I can say for sure this is completely untrue. They fit fine with official sleeves. I have two of these and not encountered a problem.

The only criticism that I have is that the elastic band is a little strong on the ones I have so I don't use that bit.

Are these the ones?

Good to know, I'll add it back to my list of things to investigate. :)

Yes, those are the ones. I'll do a little mini review later tonight to give my thoughts.

Amazon has the UltraPro sticker sheets for 3 ring binders. You get a ton of them for the price

How well do cards already in sleeves fit into the pockets of these type of pages?

I still want the 16 per page UltraPro ones, but I picked up one of the zip Ultimate Guard folio cases.

If you don't sleeve your upgrade cards, this is a really awesome folio and the zipper makes everything nicely contained. The cards slip in sideways and are pretty secure. As I also finally bought sleeves for my cards (and used all 5 packs... sheesh), I figured I would see how these worked. Mostly I figure this is a travel set and an Epic set. I started putting my Epic cards in and noticed that many of the pages are very tight in the middle row with sleeves on. As there are a couple of millimeters outside the cards on the sleeves, there is plenty of clearance on just the cards themselves. I was able to get three rows in, but you have to work at it in the middle one. As for adding more than one per slot, this is easily done. My tightest page so far was one I had all the Quad / Turbolasers on, so of course I had 5 of each of them. I ended up putting the middle row in rotated ninety degrees for the last two cards. Not that big of a deal and works fine for Epic, so I'm satisfied.

Now I know these are good for travel and I'll just get some of the UltraPro ones when I can find them in stock somewhere and use them for my main set of cards and pull from there when I am hitting the road.
