Threat Missions!

By KennedyHawk2, in Imperial Assault Campaign

Let's talk about threat missions.

How do they work, I set my campaign up as shown in the Return to Hoth rule book.

Our side mission deck consists of: one red mission for each hero, 2 green missions and 2 grey missions.

The threat mission deck consists of 4 threat missions.

For the intro these don't matter, the second mission is a side mission. So we drew two threat missions and two side missions and the rebel players had to pick.

The imperial player instantly gains two reward cards for use while those threat missions are in play!

Questions:

1) If the rebels opt to not take the Threat missions does the Imperial player get accesses to these banes during following story missions?

1a) The next time side missions are decided do the same threat missions remain in play and we simply replace the completed side mission with another.

2) If the rebel players do take the threat missions the next time we play a side mission to we replace it making it so there are constantly 2 threat missions out until 3 are complete?

2a) Does this take the slot of a regular side mission or does it not fill in on the campaign log?

1) As long as the threat mission is an available side mission to take, the Imperial player will receive those BANE cards even during story missions.

this is due to the fact that story missions are dependent on the amount of BANE and BOON rewards are on the table

1a) Yes

2) You will not draw new threat missions if the Rebel player played one. You will only draw a new one if told to draw one throughout the story.

2a) It is a side mission chosen by the Rebels and will fill a side mission slot. Ex. After Battle of Hoth, you can choose a threat mission as your side mission, then you will play the corresponding story mission whether the Rebels won or lost the Hoth battle.

I have one question about this do you turn over the cards at the first mission? meaning the Empire will have 2 bonus for that first mission.

Also If they select the threat mission does the Empire player still get the Bane for that mission or is it gone?

Wait threat missions don't add threat do they?

There are no active side missions or threat missions during the first mission. (See page 10. Side missions and Threat missions are drawn after the first mission.)

Banes are active as long as the mission is active, so two banes are active in the second mission, see the Threat mission cards for instructions. The threat mission and bane is discarded after being played. But I'm not an expert on Return to Hoth, so double-check from the rules.

"Some story mission events will vary in favor of the Rebels or the Imperial player based on the number of Bane or Boom cards currently in play."

(For bonus threat from banes, follow the mission setup and mission rules. Only do what they tell you to, don't invent your own rules.)

No. They only put into place bane cards that help the empire as long as that threat mission isn't completed.
