Odd question about Def. Tokens and Accuracy

By rolfsteiner42, in Star Wars: Armada Rules Questions

Hi all; A couple of things: 1) I finally realized that BRACE does nothing when you only have one H.P. left - half of even 1 damage (rounded up) is 1 - you're dead. This leads to my questions involving an interesting situation. First I must say that anything I've read about accuracy and defense tokens has never made a distinction between Readied or Exhausted tokens! [so] 2) The simple way of asking the question is "Can you stop the enemy from using an exhausted token with accuracy as well?"

Ah - now for the situation! It's the bottom of the 6th, with a second attack against Howlrunner, with no others in range. Howlrunner has 1 H.P. left, with a Ready Brace, and an Exhuasted Scatter, and a Rebel squadron just rolled 1 hit and one accuracy. If the Rebel can negate the (exhausted) Scatter, then the Brace does nothing and they're dead - 16 Rebel V.P.s! But if you can't use accuracy against exhausted Def. tokens, then Howlrunner uses Scatter and Discards it (doesn't matter at this point) and survives - NO Rebel V.P.s!

I hope I presented the situation clearly enough (on my end) so you guys will understand what and why I'm asking about this. Depending on the answer, and/or how you look at this, the question may be less about rules and possibly more about a weird kind of strategy issue [?] Sure looking forward to some input on this one! Steiner

Yes. You can spend the accuracy die to negate an Exhausted Defense Token.

There is no difference between an exhausted and readied Defense Token. It is a Defense Token and thus a legal target.

Thanks Lyraeus; you've been a big help! I thought it would be correct, so I guess it does come into the realm of paying attention to subtle points of strategy! Thanks again - Steiner

Steiner, one other thing is that if you have multiple of a single defense token the accuracy needs to target a specific token.

Hey Cman; I think I know what you're getting at, but I already understand that. If I put it in context with my question above, if the defender has 2 Brace tokens - and one is exhausted - use the accuracy on the readied one, so if they use the other one they have to discard it! Thanks for the response, Steiner

Yes you can. I do it often enough.

Thanks again Lyraeus, I just needed to know if I was on the right track, and apparently I was! Steiner

Can you use two braces on the same attack?

Can you exhaust a readied evade token then discard the same one for an additional evade in the same attack?

Nah, you can only use one of each type of defense token when spending tokens to defend from a given attack.

RRG, pg.4 "Defense Tokens"

The defender cannot spend more than one defense token of each type per attack.
