So i was messing around with squad building and ran across toman bren. I thought his ability was rather interesting, so i started experimenting. After a few minutes i came up with this.

Toman Bren:

Cool Hand

Title

Fleet Officer

Mk2 engine

With this you can pass out two focus a round with the cost of a stress. Plus you can trigger cool hand to give yourself a focus or evade and mk2 engine helps shed the stress. Not sure what to fly him with, but this costs only 29 points so that leaves a good amount of room for a couple aces or something else.

What do you think? Is it viable? And if so what would you run with it?

I'm still trying to understand what this pilot actually does. Did the definition of "discard" change to "flip facedown" while I wasn't looking?

When it's Toman Bren, yes.

I like the idea of Lightning Reflexes and, say, Mara Jade and Rebel Captive. Use any non-red maneuver on your dial to position and block and deal out lots of stress.

Also, it's Tomax Bren.

That confused me at first. I belive it is supposed to let you continually use EPTs that usually are discarded e.g. crackshot adrenaline rush etc.

Yes, it did. The rules reference says that when you "discard" an upgrade, flip it face down. Rules reference, p20, last bullet point under "upgrades".

29 points also gets me a palpshuttle... which is helpful in other ways, but some moderate overlap.

I don't hate that idea either, but at the time I meant the OP's list.

If you are running Tomax as a shuttle, Crack Shot will make up for his pitiful offensive ability.

Mara Jade and Sabateur make a good combo for a tie shuttle. Seeing as you are trying to be at range 1 for Mara you have opportunity to use Sabateur.
