We could have a long discussion about what is intentional or not (the Advanced fix didn't fall by accident in the same box as the Raider), but in the end it doesn't matter. The dissatisfaction about the fixes concerns the effect of the policy, not the intent.

Nothing I've seen from the designers suggests that they would intentionally make a dud ship. Conservative at times, sure. But, we should remember what can happen when they aren't (see Phantom).

I agree, the Phantom wave was the one where they undercosted/overpowered one ship and made 2 duds. Although i would think that neither Defender nor E-Wing were designed to be underwhelming.

Power Creep is not cool. Fixes are not fixes, it's power creep. Whine about your ships sucking, then complain that the fix is not accessible.
