Is this something a TO can do/not do? what can a TO do if a player thinks another played has cheated dice? really wish FFG covered this as they did with templates and tokens.........
Requesting one set of dice to be played with.....
Here's the key rule:
The head judge is the final authority on any component’s eligibility in the tournament. If a component is ruled ineligible and the player cannot locate a replacement for it, that player is disqualified from the tournament.
So, what can happen is, the TO can rule "Your dice are not legal components for this tournament, because I believe they have been modified." The player would then be forced to borrow dice or share dice his opponent's dice. If the player whose dice were disqualified refused to do so, the player would then be disqualified from the tournament.
The rules are clear:
Pg 4
each player is required to use the components included in official X-Wing products (see “Legal Products” on page 5). The head judge is the final authority on any component’s eligibility in the tournament. If a component is ruled ineligible and the player cannot locate a replacement for it, that player is disqualified from the tournament.
Pg 5
Only official Star Wars: X-Wing™ Miniatures Game components are legal for use in tournament play. Proxies of cards and ship models cannot be used. Third-party tokens, range rulers, and movement templates may be allowed at the head judge’s discretion. If the Star Wars™ Dice App is used, the app must be displayed in full view of both players at all times.
In the hex and counter wargame games to share dices is the usual. I agree 100%. It is so easy to modify dices...
There is no way someone's touching my dice. I don't know what they did before the game with there hands. EWWW!
People can use my dice anytime they like. Especially my green ones. Maybe they'll take the "curse" with them.
Edited by ThirdStormtrooperOnTheLeftThis brings up an interesting situation. I once saw a picture of a guy who bought a core set and one of the dice was horribly lopsided. Like, bad. I can't seem to find a picture, nor the thread, but hey, it was the dice included with the core set.....
But of course, any reasonable judge would say no to that thing

I remember that thread. That die was massively out whack. I believe the OP contacted FFG and they happily replaced it for him. But if I was a TO, I would have disallowed it, purely on the grounds that it would have been inconsistent when rolled, even though it was no fault of the player.
