Perhaps an Imperial Raider in The Force awakens !

By fab74, in X-Wing

Hi,

Just see for a second time The Force Awakens and at the end of the chase between the Millenium Falcon and the TIEs on Jakku, when the Falcon leave the Star Destroyer, on the left of it, it seems that there an Imperial Raider in the sand. We see it from behind...

Not absolutly sure as the shot is very short.

Bye

That would be awesome, but I would expect it's a standard star destroyer... Pretty noticeable difference on those engines though so if a still materializes we would know in an instant.

It is not a Star Destroyer as this ship stands next to the Star Destroyer (and it is far smaller) in the one Rey go through with the Falcon and as you specify, the rear of the Raider is very specific with a big central engine, and it is exactly what made me think about the Raider as the ship in the sand has a large central engine.

I wouldn't doubt it.

I didn't see anything that suggests a Raider, but I'll admit my eye followed the key elements in each shot not the background. I'm not a fan of the TIE panels on the Raider but I love that engine section. If it became canon I would accept it more readily...

That and it's served me well on the table...

I wouldn't doubt it.

I would. And I do. I just don't have that level of confidence in the story group.

Would help my faith in the future of the franchise if it was there, though.

I hope the Raider be becomes cannon.

I wonder if Fantasy Flight has pursued this with LFL/Disney.

I hope so.

Considering that FFG and LFL designed it in cooperation, I'd be surprised if the Raider didn't show up eventually.

Time to go to the movie theater again.

It's already been mentioned in one of the novels.

The noted source did not say Raider class... It said raiders. That said, when was the class of any star destroyer spoken on screen? Never. I'll believe it's canon when it's spelled out in the sky fully or appears on screen if only for a moment. Until then... It's a good ship on the table.

Rey flies through a Super Star Destroyer correct? So a standard Imperial would look tiny by comparison.

Hi,

Yes, and to be more precise the Raider would be only in the green elipse :

*Squints*

It certainly could be, which is neat

I think the red ellipse could be right.

I see the green ellipse is circling the small engine and the red is circling the large engine and bridge section.

Interesting, it is definitely a possibility.

Disney has some 'splainin to do.
