So I got Kayn Somos for X-mas, and love using him! So naturally, I want to paint him so he looks good with the rest of my figures. I've been following Sorastro (as many should and do already), and will obviously paint the armor and gun and whatnot the same as a standard trooper. How did people who have painted him go about the orange shoulder pad? What colors did you use (preferably in Citadel color)?

I painted mine months ago so I can't remember exactly what I used...

I think I basecoated it with Mephisto Red, used Fuegan Orange as a wash to give it more an orange tint. Then painted over with Wild Rider Red and mixed in Fire Dragon Bright. I think the brightest part is pure Fire Dragon Bright. It's been so long since I painted that, that I forgot what paints I used. Alternatively I guess you could use Jokaero Orange as a basecoat and go from there.

With Biv, I went with Jokaero Orange and used just orange based paints. As you can see, the pad is more orange than Kayn's.

I think Kayn Somos should have a redder shoulderpad so might be a better idea to use orange sparingly and stick closer to Evil Sunz Scarlet and Wild Rider Red. Maybe mix in just a tiny bit of Fire Dragon Bright. Try some mixes and how they look.
