Has anyone heard anything about FFG putting out or giving someone permission for a smart phone app for xwing???

So many good options already, we don't really need one. Unless it tied into their tournament software...

You could submit lists through that instead of archaic paper, check your tournament pairings... Probably other stuff I haven't thought of. But other than that, we don't need more squad builders. At least on Android, don't know what ios has.

Such an app could replace the cards -> less money.

i have an iphone. but it would be nice to have all your squads with you and be able to mess around with them on the go. an app wouldn't kill selling ships the free website based ones would have already done that. you can create a squad and print it out whether or not you have the cards

I don't see them doing this, they're not going to change the current expansions that are out to remove cards.

There are several, my favorite is not on the play store, it's called X-Wing Squads Designer. You can get it from Amazon's store here, or from the app's Google+ page.

It's updated regularly, has a collection control option, a built in library, and sharing and print functions.

There are plenty of people who won't use that type of stuff out of principle, an official FFG app that did that would be a stamp of approval from FFG that you don't need to pay for their stuff, not going to happen.

Also, bummer about the iPhone thing, again not sure about iOS stuff, but I heard their squad builder options are limited/practically non-existent.

Unless they change their policy on not updating cards, not seeing this happen. They haven't gone after 3rd party apps - which they could if they wanted to make their own.

If they do change their policy on not updating cards, I can totally see it happening as it can be helpful for players to know what the Most Recent Printed version of upgrades, pilots, etc. Given their former stance, something like this might even be necessary if they do change their stance.

I hope FFG never does anything but make tabletop games... I have a squad builder app but I don't want to play on vassal- only non-digital stuff for X-wing, please.

voidstate has a web URL specific for smart phones. So, you can build it on your normal web app, but then switch to view it on the mobile URL when on the phone.

I use X-wing Squadron, which is non-official.

If FFG did this, it would be in house, so they could keep more of the money from sales. So, if you look at their online Mission Control, you don't want FFG to make a squad build phone application. The Mission Control is out of date by several month and there seems to be little interest for FFG to keep it up to date. Yeah, the Mission Control is a free web based application, but everything I've seen from FFG when it comes to digital information tells me that they lack any real desire to follow through on their digital side.

I guess I just hit the nail on the head. FFG has very little interest to develop their digital side. This is probably why you see so many unofficial squad builders. If you see FFG legally push back on these sites then you willt see a change on how they handle digital products.

I'm the developer of Aurora Squad Builder. To remove ships from a squad, swipe from right to left, gives options to delete (or copy, if you want multiple generics with the same build) the ship. The same works for squadrons, giving options to edit (points/name/faction), copy (for escalation for instance) or delete.

big fan of your builder, use it all day long (work be damned) when building a mixed squad list do you think it would be possible to allow imperial upgrades on rebel ships for example.

any chance of having a list of what you own so it can limit how many of what card(s) you can use while building a squad?
