Price of common cargo?

By Tycho120, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I'm trying to find the general price of common cargo items. I know that FFG encourages GMs to just make stuff up, but I'd really appreciate any direction for the following cargo loads:

Water

Foodstuffs

Minerals

Low Tech

High Tech

Luxury Goods

Medicinals

Raw Materials

Passengers

Thanks!

You should check out the WEG book Tramp Freighters. Although it was written for the d6 system, most of the stuff in there isn't mechanical and so could be used in any Star Wars campaign. I think it has exactly what you're looking for and then some: guidance for legal and illegal goods broken down into categories like minerals, high tech, medium tech, low tech, luxury, medical, food, how much the PCs should be able to buy and sell items for, supply and demand charts, dealing with worlds/civilizations of varying technology levels, pretty much everything you ever wanted to know about hauling cargo in a freighter.

I'd provide a link but I think that might be frowned upon in these forums. You should be able to pick up a cheap copy on ebay or something though.

Even if someone doesn't like the WEG d6 system, the absolute wealth of information in some of those sourcebooks is amazing. And any GM would be absolutely free to modify it during conversion to an FFG-based campaign.

Some are worth it just for the in-universe advertisements and news bulletins alone.

are these books still in print? or will i be looking for used copies?

Used copies. WEG was the original maker of the Star Wars RPG and their work actually formed the basis for a lot of the EU novels. Sadly, they went out of business years ago.

The WEG books are all available as free download somewhere on the net. I don't have the link right now, but I think it was posted in one of the older topics.

You could also use this random transport freight job generator originally for the vomit20 Star Wars system (I hate that system)

The numbers are in metric tons. Jedipedia (german wookieepedia) says a YT-1300 can load 100 metric tons in cargo, in the game it can carry 165 encumbrance, which makes this somewhat of a head scratcher... I would just say fudge it and say 1 ton of the generator equals 1 encumbrance cap in this game.

Mark this is a job generator, not a common cargo generator.
