So i have a question to all you fellow gms what is your nemesis. My one is a suped up sector ranger. Who is after the pcs due to a kidnapping they commited.
Edited by CmanThe nemesis
It's more like a recurring character, sometimes helpful, sometimes baleful: a freelance shapechanger assassin. She's playing the PCs from time to time in different guises. They don't even know of her existence, yet.
So far, she's duped the group into taking her to their Rebel contact, killing him upon contact. They managed to take her prisoner and send her into confinement at a hidden Rebel safe house. When they recieved a bonus payment from her for the "extra performance" a few weeks later, they got a really bad feeling.
Later she started seeing the Face for a while, when they were at Kwenn, placing a hypertransmitter under his bunk.
She sold the sensitive boy a lightsabre for a "big favour" to be asked in the future. (They were looking on the black market: triumph without success.)
Whenever convenient, she's hiring the group for different tasks.
In the future she will pose as a presumed dead relative of one of them, to drive them really badly into...
Gallo Jinx. The dread gungan pirate. Playfully called "ear beard" by the foolishly daring.
He ruthlessly leads a pirate crew from a modified corvette. He demands surrender and that a ship's captain turn over all non-officer crew to him. He will kill the officers of the surrendered vessell and either ransom or hire the remainder.
If the ship is too small to have a large crew or the captain refuses, his method of plunder involves mining laser drills -- he sends his pirates out to land on the hull of the target ship, and drill into the hull, exposing the interior atmosphere to the vacuum of space, killing everyone and leaving the cargo untouched and the ship easy to repair for a scrap or sale.
He's come up a few times, and the team has determined that his ship is the first thing to look for when entering the outer rim, so they can avoid him at all costs. They also all bought enviro suits and keep them in their bunks for if they do run into him again. Such fear. I love it.
He also refers to himself in the third person and is my attempt at showing only a couple of the Gungans are useless.

Great concept! I like the Gungans actually. I had this Gungan Scientist NPC once. Spoke perfect Basic, no accent. When asked why, he said: "Most of my fellow gungans never bother to learn the language of the galaxy since our people live mostly in isolationism. That is indeed a stupid and dangerous way of thinking! For not knowing the enemy and his technology and tactics can soon lead to extinction. Those are the rules of the swamp, and the rules of the galaxy!"
Thats great i'm with you on not all gungans being useless maybe we'll see a species description in a future supplement.

It's actually coming: Nexus of Power
Oh cool i was looking into that but didnt see the species list.
Never mind i found it.
In my campaign: each character (except one) has a side story associated with their obligation and most have their own personal nemesis.
PC: Vaesha Tarn: hot sarcastic female Twi'lek pilot: nemesis is her ex Ka'rin Bel who is determined to make her a household name (synonymous with "porn star") by spreading their supposedly "private" sex holovid across the galaxy
PC: Thad Bane: duros lawman turned bounty hunter: his nemesis is his infamous uncle Cad Bane who murdered his father when he tried to bring Cad in, Thad comes from a long line of duros lawmen, Cad is the black sheep of the family, but whose also very proud of his nephew's success as a bounty hunter so Cad Bane is basically a "circle of protection against most significant underworld players in the Galaxy" for Thad Bane
PC: Tal Lee (Tal Seario): Thad's best friend, legitimate heir to Czerka Arms because he's the direct descendant of President Pollard Seario, he wants nothing to do with Czerka Arms (the company is his nemesis), two factions withing Czerka arms, the one in power wants to kill Tal because he legally could take away their control of the company, the other faction wants to install Tal as a "puppet dictator" that they control.
PC: M4-RK, droid technician mechanic cross-spec'd into doctor (starting build), an emergent AI, who's side story is it's rebelling against its own behavioral inhibitors, M4-RK has saved a "clone of himself" from destruction and the clone/earlier version of himself who developed differently in response to different stimulus believes that M4-RK's ethical programming is malfunctioning due to his association with his "tribal companions" (i.e. the other PCs), he's more like a frenemy than a nemesis.
PC: Karsten Eshan: human enforcer cross-spec'd into a custom soldier spec I came up with (I wanted to see whether it was balanced or broken... I honestly couldn't tell so I let this PC take it to see how it played, so far it hasn't been problematic), he's a thug with criminal connections and his obligation/sidestory is he incurred a debt to Emil Mola (star wars Keyser Soze, reference to the movie "The Usual Suspects") by unknowingly interfering with Emil Mola's plans to get a new body cloned for himself... what the galaxy knows about Emil Mola: he was a minor human crimelord that Jabba the Hutt fed to the Sarlacc on Tatooine about 200 years ago, yet the Mola Cartel continues to thrive while apparently still being directed by Emil Mola, how is this possible, maybe it has something to do with the phrase that Jabba uses to taunt his victims before he feeds them to the Sarlacc: "in his belly you will find a new definition of pain and suffering as you are slowly digested over the next 1000 years."
PC: J-8: a rebuilt and mostly reprogrammed HK-50 assassin droid, who was previously owned and scrapped by Czerka corporation for developing an independent personality, he also incurred the same debt to Emil Mola as Karsten Eshan.
PC: Andra: "fixer" (and a master of intrigue/shadow chess match player) for Grondo the Hutt, a frequent employer for the rest of the party, she's in debt to Grondo, who is partly a nemesis-partly a benefactor, more clear cut nemesis for her are Zordo the Hutt (a rival/nemesis Hutt for Grondo from his own clan, they are jockeying for power within and eventual control of their clan), and Black Sun... this isn't a "sidestory" because it's the over arching plot of the campaign: bounty hunters making their way in a criminal underworld of intrigue and machinations)
Note there is a complicated relationship between their side stories/nemesis: a childhood friend of Vaesha Tarn turned uber slicer, "Ziggy" is helping Mola with his objective a getting a new body cloned for himself in exchange for Mola handling Ka'rin Bel for him BECAUSE
Ka'rin Bel is now off limits to the party because he's under the protection of Zordo the Hutt,
Ziggy is also the one who convinced Mola to let the PCs work off Karsten's and J-8's debt to him rather than just kill them.
Grondo and Mola are allies because Mola arranged for Grondo's clan to get a monopoly on all illicit trade on the mining planet Aleron (in the Tapani Sector freeworlds region) where Mola's consigliere the newly minted Baron Aalto Endel of House Cadriaan and the ranking executive of Macander Heavy Ores on Aleron (and therefore the most influential man on Aleron)
and minor nemesis (stat block "nemesis") show up and depart on a session by session basis.
Oh and since they needed Talon Karrde's help to acquire a ysalamir for Emil Mola, they had to do a industrial espionage/insider trading mission for him against Gowix computers on Corellia.
Edited by EliasWindriderThe Clone Wars series does a good job of showing some "not-useless" gungans.
In my current game the Nemesis is only just being defined. I like having a few potential ones show up during the first dozen encounters. Typically I get the best reaction when I re-introduce "the one who got away".
In my last game a bounty hunter who was raiding a village for slaves managed to escape summary execution at their hands, so I had him show up more than once. He was not the main antagonist. The story was always about pulling the ultimate heist for that group. So the scenario and setting was always shifting but he hounded them for a long time. He had recognized two of them as force users and was trying to not just get the standard inperial bounty but also black mail the players for his silence. He demanded 100k creds from the group. He made a showing in the final session where the party surprised me by not killing him once and for all. Then again I like to play my villains as morally grey rather than pure evil. I guess the players were feeling inclined towards peaceful dealings that day. Of course it could have to do with the fact that they just looted a lost hutt treasure room and could sent the hunter on his way with over 500k creds.
My group has got a couple of nemesises (nemesi?).
Our main one is an Imperial general, who focuses on science. He's very smart tactically as well and tends to do everything he can to out-think and out-talk his opponents. He's a very fun NPC to get into the mindset of as we get to have elements of a mad scientist mixed with a politico. It's meant dealing with various projects of his, from enhanced Stormtroopers and new starfighters through to implanted suggestions and a Star Destroyer with a cloaking device.
The PCs captured him and during his interrogation they allowed him to get his hands on a datapad. This didn't end well, as he may have embedded some sort of programming in one of the PCs who was captured by him. He escaped from the PCs with the help of a mole he had on the inside, which leads me to our other main nemesis:
The PCs mentor early on when they joined the Rebel Alliance, he turned out to be a mole and broke the general out. So pretty much all the PCs have sworn to kill him on sight.
Edited by YelshaNuMy group has an advanced AI who incapacitated 8 out of 12 party members the first time they met (we sometimes run 2-team, 2-GM missions). For our "season finale" after a year of playing, I gave them a bit of a surprise .
Edited by verdantsfThe Nemesis of our campaign is an Inquisitor named Thanassis. He's been after the Crew for almost two real life years, trying to obtain a Force-imbued artifact from them that is capable of destroying a planet if it is properly aligned. Throughout the course of their adventures, Thanassis has murdered friends of theirs, obliterated their safe-houses, blasted their beloved ship out of the sky, placed them in the One Hundred Club of galactic bounties, and even broadcasted the execution of the wife of one of my players on the holonet.
Previously, we played through a Clone Wars campaign in which my players were all Jedi. Thanassis was one of their allies, a Jedi Knight who was presumed dead during Order 66. Our current campaign--set in the classic era--is when Thanassis became an Inquisitor and started hunting my players. In our most recent session, he finally got his hands on the Force artifact, paralyzed one of my players, and told them his plan: he is going to blow up Coruscant while the Emperor and Vader are there to avenge the annihilation of the Jedi.
Now my players are broken, lost, and shattered as we enter the final arc of our campaign. Thanassis has the infant, and is going to use it to kill one trillion people. They've loaded up on guns, grabbed a clean ship, and have blasted off towards the Core in the hope of somehow stopping Thanassis before it is too late. They are motivated as much by revenge as morality.
Twin albino trandoshan bounty hunters, although the PCs managed to finally catch up to and kill one of them after a year of playing They don't know there's more than one.....
My group has got a couple of nemesises (nemesi?).
Nemeses.
We play more or less freeform, and my players usually bail to the other side of the galaxy when things go awry, so they made quite a few enemies. While being mostly on the run, things look like they come crashing down on them soon (hope my players don't read this):
Teemo the Hutt: From the Beginner Game, used to be the groups employer. Holds a grudge against the PCs because they botched a deal and escaped punishment, then tried to assassinate him. Currently imprisoned.
Bazgo the Hutt: Teemo's son, betrayed his father to take his place. Put a bounty on the PCs heads because they (unknowingly) possess proof that Bazgo is behind Teemo's imprisonment.
Fayee Banzai: female Twi'lek Scoundrel, used to be a PC before the player rerolled a new character. Kept working for Bazgo, but is torn between her employer and her allegiance to her old group.
Glover: male Klatooinian Bounty Hunter / Guard Captain. Very loyal to the Hutts, set on collecting the bounty on the group, seeks revenge after one of the PCs shot Glover's eye out.
Dainani Nesjo: male Human force-sensitive Archaeologist, became an apprentice of the dark side after years of digging through ancient sith ruins. Trails a force-sensitive PC in hopes to find the PCs Jedi mother and wants to kill her to prove his worth to the emperor.
Tonya Alsen: female Human ISB Agent, investigates cases involving the PCs. Has a deal with Dainani and helps him seek the PCs. She also helps her brother, Supervisor Cal Alsen, scout Wookies to sell to Chalkazza.
Chalkazza / Darth Sodom: male Wookie and self proclaimed Sith Lord, who conducts dark side experiments on other Wookies. Wants the PC Wookie as a prime specimen and lures him with promises to reunite him with his family (the PC is a madclaw and was exiled from his clan).
Kobrado: male Zabrak underworld droid manufacturer. Has a deal with Black Sun and currently employs the PCs. Plots with a Vigo (who has yet to reveal himself) to use the PCs in order to overthrow Prince Xizor.
Novus and Pepelu: Clawdite siblings (male and female), who were raised in the same orphanage as one of the PCs. They show interest in working with their old friend, but are greedy and might betray the PCs.
currently in my game there are no Nemeses yet but I'm planning on them having at least 3 there will be the big bad guy Sith Lord don't know how often they will see him though, there will be a bounty hunter that tried to capture them for one of the PCs outstanding debts hes going to fail capturing him but he will come back later being employed by the Sith Lord and be kitted out better and the last one will be a Jedi NPC that helped my PCs out for a while who was captured and turned by the Sith Lord.
My game uses all EotE, AoR and FaD and is set in TOR timeline so the Jedi and Sith are still in huge numbers and those guys will probably be made using Inquisitor rules.
I don’t have any Nemeses yet for the PCs in my game, but I do now have a few more ideas.
Thanks!
