found out about it when i got on to look at AoR stuff
Edited by SHADOWGUARD CHAMPIONWell, it might be more difficult to jump in now, but it's definitely a MUCH more balanced game to get into. (Especially once wave 8 gets here) As those of us who had to deal with TIE phantoms pre-nerf, no autothrusters, and turrets ruling the meta can attest to.
Yeah, win or lose, I sure did get sick of seeing Fat Han everywhere.
I acquired the plastic crack addiction just before wave 7 was released around 6 months ago. Still missing Z-95(4), IG-2000(2), HWK-290(1) from the earlier releases. And I only have a K wing and a TFA core set from the newer releases. Recently added a Tie Bomber in preparation for the Imperial Veterans pack, and Most Wanted so I can now field some half decent scum lists. Only one epic ship, the rebel transport, but I have bought some of the upgrades singly off ebay to keep up with current meta lists. Waiting on the summer store championship pack to get my hands on a C-3PO crew card. One day in the future I may get the big ships...
Edited by UumbukuMy buddy got in at wave 1 and i played a bunch with him. I didn't get my own stuff until wave 5.
About a month before the IA event for wave4
Learned about it when it was announced, but waited till wave two was out and three was announced.
I prefer to see if a new game has legs before investing.
I got in Wave 2, but only played a few times before I started playing competitively December 2014. Once I heard about the Z-95s, I wanted in so I could fly a Rebel Swarm.
Wave 1, then stopped at two, and got back into it at wave 6 ish..
Noob here, Wave 7.
Right around wave 7 release. It is frustrating to try to get caught up. Loving the game but, dang.
Edited by DosiereMy wife got me the core set for Christmas a year ago but I didn't really start getting into it until early summer, so a few months before Wave 7 and by the time that was released, I had jumped in with both "mistakes were made" feet and had at least one of everything (except epic) and pretty much 2-3 of all small ships. Wave 8 was happily pre-ordered ![]()
Wave 1
I played my first intro game the same day wave 4 was released. Since Corran is my favorite away character it was like a clever trap.
When rebel aces was announced.I didn't know how far ahead they made announcements.
2 Days ago... So... Wave 8? Is that what we're on now?
Day 1.
Wave 4.
I got into the game come Wave 3 and played with a group of friends. We loved the Falcon and the Slave 1, and thought HLC Bwings were hands-down the best things ever. The Ywing and Interceptor were impossible to find at that point in my town and I didn't even know they existed in game until I moved to Toronto. That's where I got imperial aces and freaked out and I so happy and started running a Carnor, Doom Shuttle and BH list. Got really far in my first tournament with that.
Wave 1, but later in it. It came out, but you couldn't find it in stores due to Target grabbing up all of them. It was a huge scandal. Everyone wanted to buy the game, but you couldn't find them anywhere. They finally got more in the stores and that's when I started.
I dropped out for Wave 4, but was back at Wave 5....one of the worst times in the game.
Just before Wave 7 arrived. My buddy sold me a Falcon, 4 X-Wings, 2 Y-Wings and a B-Wing for $40.00. Since then I've added about a zillion more ships for the Rebels and Imperials. Thank God my wife doesn't really care. She figures it's cheaper than golf. ![]()
I played a couple games with the store copy the fall it was released. Started buying my own stuff about two weeks before Wave 2, and have been going full tilt ever since.
I remember reading about this new game that was going to be coming out with X-wings and Tie Fighters, Y- wings and Tie Advance to come soon. When reading up on this new game I saw the price point and was thinking at the time that it would cost a lot to build a fleet of ships, this was still in the early planning stage of the game and there was not a lot of info out. I basically talked myself out of looking any further into this game at that time, then sometime later I ran across this amazing Falcon model that had just come out on eBay and marveled at the detail of the ship( my favorite ship by the way) and decided I must have that for a display piece. Needless to say I ordered it immediately and started looking into this forgotten game again. By the time my Falcon arrived it had more ships here waiting.....with many more "mistakes were made" moments to follow.
I started in Feb 2013, which would be between waves 2 and 3. I had a gaming group that would get together once a month. I would often be supplying a new game to try and thought I would ptich X-wing to them in this fashion:
" I would buy the core set and everyone would pick up one expansion and then we get together and play. If the game sucked, everyone would have a neat pre-painted mini for their computer desk and if it was good, well, just more time getting together."
Now I have over 81 ships in my collection, have been to Regionals and Worlds, and have tremendous fun playing the pickup games of Arturi or 100 points squads every other Monday at my FLGS.
After wave 5 release, when the local supply really a dried up. Lucally I live in a large city and spent an afternoon driving to 3 Barnes an nobles for interceptos and more.
Wave 2. Picked up the core, 1 Y-Wing and 1 TIE Adv at Megacon cuz it costed the same as online. Added expansions slowly at first and then by Wave 4 or so I was ordering a ton. Only Wave I preordered was wave 6, not long after I ordered Waves 4 & 5 together. Still don't have the Lambda or any Huge ship. I'm quite behind at the moment...
