ok it's 2016, can we have some wave 3 news now?

By Crabbok, in Star Wars: Armada

Lack of announcement, lack of events and general cost of the miniatures has killed this game for me. When I can find 6 X-wing players for every Armada player it would be silly for me to drop my money in Armada. Haven't bought anything from wave 2.

That's nice.

Have fun with another game. I still can't see how you have fully explored this game to the point that you are bored with it.

Its sad, people are willing to complain about the lack of players but do nothing to increase their player base. I found out a few days ago that a kid I showed the game to was able to get into this fantastic game with his chrismas. A friend who I got a core set for and some other things is still going strong and the FLGS that I am always at is slowly growing.

It takes time, patience and a willingness to build a community. Maybe you need to do that first.

Wow could you be be a bigger pretentious *******. You know **** all about our area or what we and I have done. Happy new year to you too.

I am not the one whining about the lack of announcements and have not even tried out the new ships or anything. How can you be upset about the lack of news when you have not even bought the Rogues and Villains Pack let alone an Imperial Star Destroyer? You are upset about the low amount of players in your area but X-Wing started off the exact same way.

Lets go through some dates eh?

X-Wing Release dates:

Wave 1 was released at GenCon in 2012, that was August 16th

Wave 2 was released on February 28th (look at that it was over 6 months) while their Kessel Run event (same thing as our Sullust event) occurred in December. Oh to help you more, They previewed Wave 2 in September 2012.

Wave 3 was released on September 13th, WOW what a long wait there! You know. . . Wave 3 was not even announced until May 4th so that was 2 months from the time of Wave 2's release

Wave 4 was not even announced until February 7th! Talk about a wait and a half!

After wave 4, FFG started to really pick up its pace, in fact it announced waves, 5, 6, and 7 all in 2014. Hmmmm, personally I think you and all of those who are complaining need to settle down and look enjoy what we have so far.

Mega-maid confirmed for wave 3.

Over powered for Armada.

If all someone has is Wave 1, it's quite possible to have explored every facet of the game. There weren't that many when Empire had 2 ships and most ships had an almost objective "best" upgrade set.

Really, Wave 2 is a must for anyone who wants to analyze Armada for long term play.

I have played over 150 games of wave 1 and have not experienced every facet of that wave. I have practiced, worked on, created videos, and yet not have conceived everything. I would never of guessed that a No upgrade list with mass A-Wings would win world's which was a huge mind blowing thought.

The guys from IFF who do 40+ hour gaming sessions and yet they still have not explored every facet of even the objectives and where they are good and bad.

I do not think that someone has actually explored every facet

Armada > xwing.

That is all. Happy new year!

Explored is a subjective term. Some people play with a ship once and think they know the ins and outs of it. It happens all the time with board games. When Eclipse came out there were individuals who claimed it was broken after one play. Others actually took the time to play it multiple times and pushed through it. Most every deep game has people who claim to know it well after a few plays. Here with Armada many were convinced squadrons were weak. They just hadn't played against the right opponent who had taken the time to explore everything. So some people HAVE explored everything about a game, or as much as they can see. Others see complexities and wonder how small tweaks can have large impacts and try to push the system to its limits.

I'm not actually saying one is better than the other. Not everyone wishes to play a game to an incredibly deep level and for them the exploration ends quickly. The only real issue arises when they claim to KNOW everything about the game at an expert level. But so long as people are realistic about their own knowledge level, being a shallow explorer simply means you're willing to move on quicker. They probably miss some great things, but they may also move on to a game that is better for that person.

I love that going into wave2 the first list I developed was a 3 ship damage control list with no squadron support. And now I'm trying to fit in as many automated squadrons as possible by cutting more and more upgrades, all in the span of like 2 months. I would say that this level of diversity is unheard of considering that there's only 2 waves in the game so far. How utterly amazing!

I see what you mean. . . It still boggles my mind. . .

Mega-maid confirmed for wave 3.

Release date scheduled for 1/23/45.

So, european release around 5/01/46 ?! :D

Armada > 40k

Having both armies securely packaged, plus all dice, terrain, cards and books needed to play a game in a single carry case, and it have more tactical depth, and be more fun? Boom.

40k is still better for painting by a long way. GW really do make the best minis, but their game systems are ageing badly.

I should introduce you to the wonderful world of Dropzone Commander. It is a 10mm game but the models are fantastic and they are run by a British company one can respect. . . Unlike the company that shall not be named.

I would prefer you didn't. At least, not on the Official Forums for Star Wars: Armada from Fantasy Flight Games.

I probably shouldn't be, but I'm astonished that after 5 weeks (or 6 now?) of Wave 2 accessibility there are folks already feeling like we don't get stuff and *need* Wave 3.

Imperial Assault on the other hand has a TON of release possibilities since it is ground based.

Again, it's not that any of us feel we need wave 3 anytime soon. However, seeing as it took over half the year to go from announcement to release with wave 2, it would be kinda nice to get an announcement for wave 3.

So you're basically saying that all the complaints about the long wait between waves at the beginning of X-Wing's life cycle were invalid as well? I'm not sure why it is so horrible to want some kind of Armada news. This isn't a 'GOD **** IT FFG SAY SOMETHING RAAAAAAWR!' kind of thing. This is a 'hey, we haven't heard from ya in a while. Anything going on?'

People likely complained about X-wing but it worked in the end. It worked because FFG needed to build up the capital for advertising and their plans.

So far, FFG is almost mirroring X-Wing's release schedule. They had an issue with wave 1 but that was not their fault. Wave 2 actually follows the same release time length, and I think we won't get wave 3 information until next month at the earliest (I don't mind being wrong if it is earlier).

I am just surprised people are begging for more information already. We just got wave 2!go out, go explore and learn

Give me some Wave 3 news!

I have a good feeling about today!

And for the record, I'm not angry or upset about the lack of wave 3 news.... I'm just really excited and anxious. I think it's a good indicator as to the quality of this game, that so many of us are foaming at the mouths for more. When a game is this good we all benefit, and one of the side effects is a little mouth-foaming once in a while.
