Dear FFG -

My wife gave me X-Wing for Xmas and we love it. Thank you! We immediately added a YT-1300 and a Slave I to our collection to make the game more interesting.

Here's some interesting stats from our first week of play:

1. My wife is 4-1 against me! D-:

2. Imperials are 0-5 in our house.

I'll spare you the deduction and just admit that I'm stubborn, and I have made it my mission to win with the Imps. Slave I takes a little getting used to, and I'm really bad at flying TIEs in formation. In our standard game, my wife runs Luke (R2-D2, proton torpdedos, shield upgrade) and Han (Nien Nunb, Falcon, Concussion Missiles, maybe something else but I forgot). I started with Boba Fett but quickly switched to Kath (Boba's ability is rendered useless against Han and Luke), along with Dark Curse and Mauler Mithell. I've tried various upgrades. The basic problem I see is the matchup between the TIEs and R2-D2. It's hard to get those shields down! If anyone has any adivce for winning with Imps in my setup, I'm all ears.

are you playing equal points? seems like a lot of helpers for rebels and I know ties don't carry many. that said your going to have to focus on 1 ship with that list. It would be hard to spread fire against that rebel list.

With just the stuff you have, it's going to be very hard for Imps to win. Maybe run your Firespray as a cheap blocker and try to block the Falcon and focus down with TIEs?

Better yet, sneak out and buy a TIE Phantom pack on the sly. Just make sure you can claim the VI for Whisper.

My experience as a fellow newb is that you're flying some really hard imperial ships, named Ties are really expensive for their hitpoints and if you dont know what you are doing they are just as easily killed as Academy pilots. Your problem doesn't lie with the Firespray but the Tie's.

How many points are you using? Many players play 60 point games when they have limited ships to play with.

Since I posted this, we have bought (a lot) more ships and the Imps have finally gotten some wins at the table. I've introduced a buddy to the game and he's totally hooked now as well. He bought a Vader and a Y-wing. I've bought a Phantom, a Most Wanted pack, Wedge, Howlrunner, Rebel Aces, a Force Awakens set and another A-wing. I watched some videos on how to fly in formation which helped everyone in the house to the point where everyone wants to load up the TIE swarm and just go. Two days ago I tried to roll Chewie, Jake and a Blue B against a TIE swarm and got stomped, haha. (I don't have the C-3PO card yet so Chewie's shields got burned fast. I did a great job of getting Jake behind Vader only to have my dice fail me. C'est la vie, i suppose.

This sounds somewhat familiar. My wife is still beating me with the rebels though as I am determined to figure out how to fly the Imps.

Not you guys too! A fellow battered husband here. I have yet to defeat my wife, and I too have been focussing on the Imps. Last game, we flew to a draw between my Soontir and her Corran.

Amusingly, another Imp husband vs. Rebel wife. I can usually beat her, since she is not as good at tactical games, but my brother often crushes me. The Imperial are tough to fly and unforgiving, hence I have been dabbling in Scum lists.
