Gozanti docking clamp and Tie Bomber magnetized!

By Plainsman, in X-Wing

I got the first one completed, but need stronger magnets to continue for stability during play!

The clamps appear ready-made to accept a proper size magnet in the bottom. Just use some superglue gel and away you go!

As to the bombers, Im finding one needs to drill further back than I originally anticipated. Then drill from the bottom almost all the way to the top. This allows the magnet to be near the top but not protruding. My current magnets are too small. We were using them on 40K fig limbs for my son. The docking clamps can handle bigger ones easily. I'll do some research and let everybody know which size I end up getting.

As to the Ties, Ill be removing the pegs and drilling up where they attach. After gluing in the magnets, Ill either replace the peg section with extra pegs that are cut down, or start magnetizing them and stands, which Ive wanted to do anyhow!

Uh... Measurement questions- Do the Bombers have enough space when they're hanging like that, or do they bump into each other?

Ill post a pic of 4 bombers upside down.

Bravo! Nicely done.

What diameter of magnets did you use?

The magnets I currently have are too small for actual game play. They are 1/8" x 1/16" rare earth magnets.

Id like to go to go up a bit if I can. The clamps could easily take larger magnets, up to 1/4" in diameter, Im thinking!

It was the same pic as in the post anyhow, so I just removed it.

Good job! Could you show us where you inserted the magnet in the bomber please?

I drilled a channel from the bottom towards the top, but not all the way through. Ill take more pics later today when I work on the rest of my bombers.
