What to buy for the new guy

By Rogue 4, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Okay I am getting addicted to the beast (again).

I currently have been playing (and will continue to) Star Wars LCG and X-Wing Miniatures, but I am beginning to play Imperial Assault. I have a Core, Han and Chewie. So what do I need to buy?

If we are just playing 1v1, what figures are the best for beginners and/or competitive play?

If we just plan on playing the campaign, what is the best way to go at buying figures?

Thanks for any help!

If you are planning on playing skirmish, now is an exciting time to start! There was an errata recently released, so the meta is currently in flux. Rebel Saboteurs are still strong, but feel free to experiment. There is no longer a "you would he stupid to do anything else" army list.

If you are playing campaign, you dont really *need any of the expansions to have fun. In my link is a link to boardwars.eu, and they have *excellent reviews of all the expansion packs on that site. I have found them very helpful and thorough, and now just direct people there.

Is that spreadsheet up to date? Are the Rebel Saboteurs still that good? What about the expansion? Do I need those? No rating on the new stuff yet? What is your opinion there? Thanks for the input!

You don't need to buy any more than you have curently! The core box is jam packed with options.

You may want to add some more rebel troop choices as they do not have figures in any of the large box expansion sets.

If your budget minded I say the box expansions are really important. they are the only source of new campaign heroes.

The small expansions are fun but I would buy them slowly. Letting the new options they add sink in before getting overwhelmed with a flood of scenarios.

The other thing I recommend is a binder to store the scenario sheets that are included with each expansion. And maybe some card pages to organize your deployment cards.
