Inquisitor's Dial conversation

By DraconPyrothayan, in X-Wing

Am I insane, or is this thing more effortlessly mobile than the TIE Interceptor or A-Wing?

This ship, with Boost and Barrel Roll, has:

5F
4F 4K
3T 3B 3F
2T 2B 2F
1T 1B

And still, the option to take the TIE mk.II mod (over Autothrusters for some reason), turning it into:

5F
4F 4K
3T 3B 3F
2T 2B 2F
1T 1B

There is a strong argument that the 1 Turn is the best maneuver in the game, particularly in combination with the mobility actions.

This one has it in green, natively.

Hell, it has every maneuver one could want, other than the 1 forward, variable koiogran, and the oddballs (stops, sloops, trolls, etc).

And then they give us Valen Rudor, who arc dodges later than anyone else in the game, including Turr Phennir.

I love dials. And it makes me love this ship. I had a dream that one day I would have a green hard 1.

Dials are what make this game fun for me. I have to see if it is too expensive for a 2 attack dice ship.

I think in a tight dogfight this ship can hard 1, then PtL, boost then barrel roll. and do it again next turn.

I never really liked giving up my hard turns when I PtL-ed my TIE Interceptors.

The Green Speed 1 hard turn, and a bank Green, make him the best hunter of the game... Even the usual fear of overshoot a target with an interceptor was greatly mitigate. What a present.

And then they give us Valen Rudor, who arc dodges later than anyone else in the game, including Turr Phennir.

I like the idea of Turr shooting at Rudor... bRing then Rudor is like I CAN DO IT BETTER!

Counter-rolling to get Turr back in arc. Probably with a target lock and evade, since you never don't take the title.

I'm gonna stick with what I said before I think this has made the fo obsolete the TAP has a great dial and action economy built in and it's more survivable against turrets.

Apart from a few aces the fo offers little it's not even the cheapest option as a blocker.

only issue wold be if Turr Boosted to get by you not leaving enough room to BR to get him in arc... so R1 Turr shot might be bad news bears for Hodor

it is amazing that they give the faction that does not have to rely on turrets ships that actually maneuver well

If the PS4 TAPs have an EPT then it will be hard to justify a crackshot Omega over a crackshot TAP.

You use the /fo for Omegas and the most excellent Aces. With the v1 you're going to effectively paying 19 points for a low PS generic, no elite talent, and a dial that doesn't do what the /fo's dial does. They're not really comparable.

That said, they've got most of the blocking goodness that Starviper generics have at a better price, so they are probably now the most cost effective (including durability) blocker in the game.

All this excitement about the 1-hard green is merited, but it does matter that all the green banks and turns are slow. It's good, but also less than good in some scenarios. They end up being great knife fighters, bur poor pursuers.

Also, if the TAP is stressed it will be difficult to get out of an opposing ship's range 3 band. Putting a MkII on there is very inviting but autothrusters will be better in most cases.

if only it wasn't the "It needs PS9, boost, PTL and barrelroll" faction...

I'd like to point out that it's currently the only small-based ship in the game capable of banking or turning at any speed with no reds in that range. The YT-2400 can do the same, but is large based, and the Attack Shuttle and Defender have access to all of those moves but 2/3s of their hard turns are red, and the VCX-100 is both a large based ship with access to all six but with 2/3s hard reds.

The only thing she's missing is a straight one, which is nullified a bit by at least having the 1-banks. But its forwards have greens from 2-4, which isn't shabby at all. Without stress, she's going to be a very difficult ship to pin down.

And TIE Fighters, TIE Interceptors, and A-Wings are all jelly of that 1-bank. Inq has their hard turn but actually has a slow move that keeps it facing close-ish to its starting bearing.

Not sure they're better than Interceptors, exactly. They handle close range better, but that green bank 2 is the hope of the universe. TAP will be very difficult to beat once we get up close but I suspect a PTL Interceptor can control the range they fight at more easily than the TAP can, thanks to a better selection of green overall. That said, Interceptor vs TAP puts a massive value on being able to move second if we assume they both have PTL. A-Wings are left out because they can't normally barrel roll, but Jake and Expert Handling Tycho can take everything I just said about the Interceptor and apply it to themselves.

"Hey, that Prototype we made was too maneuverable, better cut back on the engines for the mass production version."

- The Empire, probably

Also, 1 banks and 1-turns will be easier to block with a single ship. I'm not sure if that is possible with 2-speeds.

-Okay, people, we need to stick 1 more Hull because it needs to be reverse-Xwing!

-But it will lose it's hard-earned green 1turns!

-screw that, EXTRA CURVED HULL!

Well its the same conversation i had in the facebook group. They souped the hell out of a TIE Fighter but realised although it turned on a dime, it didnt have that much combat speed, which id like to think this is the forerunner to not only the TIE Advanced, but the Interceptor as well.

One design that spawned two more specialised ships, instead of trying to do it all by itself.

It's got the greens that the StarViper desperately wanted.

And out-flies its more advanced namesake in the process.

Hmm.

But... you already quoted me...

They started packing on some armor, and the engines just didn't work as well. Plus those Lothal rebels keep blowing these ones up.

I had a dream that one day I would have a green hard 1.

I don't think you meant this like it came out. Or maybe you did and you just need our help?
