I was the TO/judge for the SnowConSeven Tournament in Bangor, Maine on January 18, 2015 and as I approach hosting the SnowCon Episode VIII "THE AWAKENING TOURNAMENT" in Bangor, Maine on January 17, 2016 (just a few weeks from now) I am reminded of my single most least finest X-Wing moment in my years of playing.
Due to short notice of the event, I scheduled the tournament the week before the con, we only had four players show for the tournament (including myself). My list (Ten Numb + Marksmanship and five Tala Squadron pilots) quickly dismantled the Fat Falcon I had to face first. With confidence I moved on to my second match, against a good personal friend of mine. My Rebel Swarm just had to take down a three ship build for my second match (Vs: Kyle Katarn + Wingman + Jan Ors Crew + Ion Cannon Turret + Moldy Crow, Garvin Dreis + Ion Torpedoes + R2-D6 + Wingman + Munitions Failsafe, and Biggs Darklighter + R2-F2 + Experimental Interface). I quickly powered through Biggs, he could not repel firepower of that magnitude. As I chipped away at Garvin I lost Ten Numb to an Ion Cannon Turret shot from Kyle. But an eye-for-an-eye! Garvin died immediately afterward. This left me with FIVE Tala Squadron Z-95 Headhunters verses a TWO HULL Kyle Katarn. I maneuvered each Zed with the intent of getting a shot on Kyle, my formation had fallen apart in the earlier engagement due to Ionization hits and a desperate attempt to avoid asteroids. As I scrambled to finish of Kyle Katarn Zeds slowly began to fall as they spent turns without firing arcs - their ionized hulls drifting away from the fight. In shock I eventually lost the match. Having lost FIVE fully healthy Tala Squadron Z-95 Headhunters to a TWO HULL Kyle Katarn.
