What are the pros and cons of the A wing vs the Z95 headhunter
Pros and cons
Z95
Pros
Cheap
Because they are cheap, they can manage great fillers
Great blockers
Excellent fodder ships
Decent jouster
(fly them aggressive in your opponent face help keep your other ships alive)
Cons
One shot easily by hlc, or any 4 dice attack
(only have two agility)
Mediocre pilot ability (that's my opinion)
Awing
Great pilot ability (tycho and Jake)
Not overly expensive with refit
Good Flankers.
Better agility (not so easy to one shot)
Green squadron have elite slot
Can equip two elite upgrades with title
Excellent dial
Cons
Low dmg
Can still get one shot (though not as often as a z)
Little more expensive vs z95
That's all it can think of at the moment, running on two hours sleep and too much caffeine lol
Edit
But In all honesty I think z95 see more play.
Just because of their point cost
Some builds that have done well in the past were dash, and 4 z95, and Han with 4'z95
Just because you have one really fat ship hard to kill and then a bunch of cheap ships that clog up the board and you don't care if you lose one or two or three for that matter as long as your mvp is alive
The awing do start getting much more expensive when you go with named pilots, and they have the same attack power.
Even green squadron can get expensive cause it's a generic that can equip up to two elite slots.
But having 4 awings coming at you with Proton rockets is pretty scary lol.
There are some cheap options for them as well
The cheapest is 15 pts with the refit upgrade and lowest pilot skill
For the awing Jake is my favorite.
For z95, bandit

A-Wing
+mobile as ****
+sick design
+all the cool pilots drive this thing
+ladies drop their panties as soon as they see one
+pilots with more EPTs than you'll ever dream of
+can use autothrusters
-2 attack dice on a 17 pts ship
Z-95
+cheap
-what is that, an X-wing for poor people?
Both have their place in squadrons and can both be extremely useful when they are being used to fill their designed roll. Problems arise when you try to put a Z-95 headhunter in an A-Wing's roll and vice versa. The Z-95 has one solid use: low-cost filler. Whereas the A-Wing has multiple uses: missile alpha strike, fast flankers, hit-and-run tactics (green 5 forward), and they have increased longevity due to higher agility, the ability to take PTL (even at low pilot skill), the ability to take AUTOTHRUSTERS, and the evade action.
Kryn007 hit all the points you really needed to be concerned with. If you can fit an A-Wing, especially with the prevalence of TLTs, you're better off than using a Z-95 headhunter.
Thank you guys
Krynn's list covers it for the most part, except blocker. The z-95 is not a good blocker. It can do it, like any low PS ship, but the prototype pilot is hands down a much better blocker. Better dial, PS1 and the boost action allow it to put down blocks in ways the z-95 can only dream of.
z-95s also work better in multiples, whereas a-wings are better off alone. The z-95 is a jouster, and suppliments other jousting ships in a squad. So 2 or 3 bandits, at 24 or 36 points can be a nice addition to a jousting list. Taking a single bandit to fill out a squad is something people do, but it generally isn't very effective (I know, I know, the 2015 World's list had a single bandit, so it must be good, right?). In terms of filler though, if you got 15 points, a prototype with Chardaan refit can't be beat. But funny enough, if you have 30 points, look somewhere else----2 chardaan prototypes cannot compare to some of the other options Rebels have in that point range...
Another thing to consider: a-wings are going to become much more desireable when the TIE/D comes out (possibly e-wings too?). Defenders just may well be meta-defining this spring, and the a-wing is one of the few things rebels have that can survive the newly supped up Defenders...

Most ships have 2 (with 2 pilots on each, typically a generic on one side and a unique pilot on the other). Some ships, like the imperial aces, TIE/ln and TIE/FO have 3.
Edited by blade_mercurialIf you do plan on getting into it, over time you're going to have access lot of pieces.
I'd start looking into some Plano tackle boxes
There some good ones out there that can hold a lot
that sounds like a good idea
