Core Rule Book Adventure and Knight Level Play

By Joress, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

I have some PCs that have created Knight Level characters, including lightsabers and force powers. I wanted to run the Core Rule book adventure, as well as the adventure from the FaD GM kit.

But after skimming over the adventures, [spoiler alert], I notice that both have to do with either getting a lightsaber hilt or the crystal. Both of which my players already have. Will it be redundant to run these adventures with them?

Has anyone ran these adventures with Knight Level PCs? Should I insist that they create characters that are NOT Knight Level to run through those adventures? I'm kinda torn on what to do.

I see three options fro your problem:

Option 1 get the Chronicle of the Gatekeeper book and play that adventure (upgrading some enemies to make it challeging)

Option 2 run the two adventures you chose by upgrading the enemies and challenges, the first adventure reward is something very useful for them anyway (

a holocron

) and in the the second adventure they could find better thangs

lightsaber crystals

than the one they have already making it interesting for them.

Option 3 bend the rules a bit: tell the players they can't have a lightsaber because they'll find how to build one in the first couple of adventures, and switch the sabers with antique swords so they can still use the lightsaber skill (maybe they have contacted the scholar in Lessons from the past with questions abou the swords and the adventures starts from there....)

Mind you, option 2 and 3 require you give them a ship as group resource, not a mentor or a holocron (well, maybe a scholarly mentor could work)

I've run the corebook adventure with a group of PCs that were essentially Knight Level through the virtue of earned XP, and it ran fine. Granted, none of them had lightsabers, so the Basilisk War Droid was a bit of a challenge, but they managed to handle it without getting slaughtered in the process.

Thanks Lareg and Donovan! I appreciate the feedback. I know one is set on keeping the lightsaber he "made" during character creation. After listening to the Order 66 episode about lightsaber construction, I just think he might wish he would have been able to make it in game.

Well, sounds like I can run the adventure with a few tweaks. Thanks again for the comments!

If there's only one PC with a lightsaber, that will make the fight against the war droid a lot easier. Of course, with my group half the party simply didn't have weapons strong enough to get past it's soak, and the one PC that did was plagued with bad rolls, which likely made the fight a lot tougher than it should have been. I cheated a bit and gave the group a damaged lightsaber (basic lightsaber stats, stopped working entirely on a Despair), which changed things up considerably... once the PC that found decided to stop being greedy and hand it off to the one PC that could actually make good use of the weapon
