On the topic of building the game

By Reinholt, in Star Wars: Armada

I read this and thought that if anything, dedicated FLGS that run active tables, nights leagues and tourneys for a specific system would actually get an increased trade discount for that system. Which would mean that the FLGS that you go to every monday night because it runs FFG star wars night with 6 tables and a monthly casual tournament would actually be the cheapest place to get star wars miniatures, compared to a FLGS that didnt run anything FFG star wars at all

Let's hope.

Here in China, LGS are run out of apartments. There is such a construction bubble that you have buy-1-get-1-free offers on 2/3 bedroom apartments. My local LGS owner bought a 3-bed for his family, and uses the 2-bed apartment he got for free as a side business, and runs it as a hobby on the weekend. His startup costs were minimal, as he had the 40k terrain already, X-wing and armada need no terrain, and I did all of his bloody DIY for him as he doesn't even know which way around a screwdriver goes.

I remember one in Hong Kong when I was there on the Carl Vincent. They had a huge array of these sweet 40k tables. . . played IG for the first time there and got crushed

Funny you say that. . . I have set this up for armada at my main FLGS. They now do monthly tournaments, have a weekly league night, it is great ^_^ sadly still small though.

so now the problem I see is that we are kind of being forced to use those cramped smelly sticky "Magic" stores.... ;)

The Armada-meta chats in this forum are the most exquisite and sophisticated of any game community I've haunted. Not sure what sort of nerds that makes us.

It makes us Grand Admiral nerds obviously.

There is nothing more satisfying than already being set up for a game and disappointing the 4 to 6 smelly Magic players who arrived after you who wanted the space.

I'm not sure if I should be offended as a Magic player or ashamed because I can't argue with any of the generalizations except against my own person. I'll go with the second 'cause, guys, come on. We don't all need to smell like Garruk.

I know of a store in Vancouver Washington who runs Mondays. Have yet to visit Dice Age but I hear they get a good crowd.
