I'm curious if people have experimented with this upgrade yet. Obviously they're going to make bomber alpha strikes a thing, but I am more curious if they will show up on other ships as well. I saw them on K wings in the Team Covenant Championships, and that makes me excited. However, today I played 3 practice games with them on Imperial Boba Fett, and I think that there might be something to this.
The list I ran was:
Boba Fett (39)
Expert Handling (2)
Navigator (3)
Slave 1 (0)
Extra Munitions (2)
Proton Bombs (5)
Advanced Homing Missiles (3)
Long Range Scanners (0)
54 points
Rexlar Brath (37)
Tie/D (0)
Ion Cannon (3)
Lone Wolf (2)
Stealth Device (3)
45 points
I beat Corran, Wedge and a blue game 1, and Kyle Katarn Super Dash and Corran game 2. In both games being able to start with TL gave me more freedom to use Expert handling to arc dodge or control range, as well as coming in with TL+F. The advanced homing missiles were really mean to Corran and the B wing, but super Dash was usually out at range 3. My final 2 games were against Kanan Superdash and Corran, and I got tabled. I went for Dash and he escaped with his super maneuverability, and Corran punished me for following him.
Over the 4 games I got a much better feel for Boba without Engine Upgrade. It is a hard choice to make because boost is super helpful, but the added offense was crucial for dropping enemy ships quickly, especially when I could Ion targets and force them to take an advanced homing missile and a proton bomb the next turn.
I like the way the Firespray flies with long range scanners, and it makes me want to try out a basic bounty hunter with Rec Spec and long range scanners flown alongside an x7 Vessery and x7 Delta.
Has anyone else tried Long Range Scanners on a Firespray yet?
