Questions about current game balance...

I hate to do so but with the new rebel builds the best option will be not play. Stay outside range and make them come if they want to play.

If this is your attitude, then... yes, please don't play.

If your strategy for playing the game is not to play the game, then don't show up to tournaments and waste the time of those who do want to play. The last tournament I played in, two of my three opponents did this to me. It's about the only tactic that is technically allowed within the rules that I consider unsportsmanlike.

I think what he means is to not charge in, rather when you see the lateral "come at me" rebel swirl develop to ... not ... come at ... the bro. Maybe that's not what was meant though.

I assume he also meant not to rush into the gun line. I refuse to anymore either, I know the outcome.

I rush gunline's! The funny part is that it works! What I tend to do is rush the lead elements or hit the rear elements. It is tricky but fun

I'm new to the game, so I'm a curious as to what you found unsportsmanlike since I've observed a couple of games where both sides approached cautiously. All sides avoided playing into their respective opponent's strategy and it led to very little action in the game. In those cases, I'm not sure who I could fault and it has me a bit concerned that that kind of game (which would be unfortunately boring) might be consistent when two sides have very different styles of play.

I think people get carried away with trying to maneuver too much in a 6 turn game. Some people spend so much time avoiding taking damage they do not do any in return either. Generally AlexW, I find very few games are that way in my own group anymore. It was a problem with early attempts at the game with many of us however. Its natural to want to avoid getting hurt lol.

I think this is why its important to have a fair amount of stuff to set-up (as in high ship counts and/or squadrons). If you see a Rebel opponent start to skew deployment to start the swirl, then adjust deployment to either A) hit him head-on or B) Put yourself in a position to nab objectives and hurt his squadrons. Low ship counts have to put it all out there quickly and have a harder time adjusting. Just my thoughts.

Having some good, durable anti-squadron is nice too because if you see yourself in a scenario where you can't get his ships, get in there and get the points you can. If the opponent sees himself down on points, he will have to come in and get you or lose the game. Boosted comms is wonderful for this.

Here's to hoping they reverse the Gunnery Teams/Ackbar FAQ though. I do wish that the Ackbar player had to make at least some choice about how to best use his firepower rather than all the red dice all the time.

I've said it once and I'll say it again...

Running away is ALWAYS an option. It's not fun or flashy, but sometimes you may need to consider a tie as a better alternative to getting crushed (In tournaments).

That being said, Wave 2 made the Imperials a lot easier to play vs Wave 1. The ISD turns like the wind compared to the VSD. That and the wide front makes landing hits easier. Not to mention all the hull buys you time.

This is like running around the soccer/football field playing keep-away the whole game because you don't think you can beat the other team. I don't think anyone would dispute that that was unsporting.

And for the record, I have no problem if this happens unintentionally due to a player's inexperience. I'm talking about coming into the game with a battle plan of "run away the whole game" because you don't think you can beat a certain player or list.
