Greetings fellow Fleet Commanders
I thought I’d share an end of year wrap up on the activities of the ‘Battle Bus’ from Sydney Australia.
So my local group (we call ourselves the Parramatta Attack Wing) missed out on the Australian Nationals on 13-14 August 2015. Ever since that day we’ve been going around the state and some circumstances interstate attending tournaments held by the local FLGS carpooling in what we call the Battle Bus. Our last tournament ended on the 27th Dec with a total of 13 tournaments under the belt where a member of the Battle Bus finished 1st in all but 4 tournaments or else we’d be somewhere in the top 4 placings.
It wasn’t just our competitive achievements that were wins for us but also travelling around the country and taking away lessons learnt from the local meta to improve our own, some of the most enjoyable times were actually in the drive back from a tournament where we would discuss the lessons learnt, how to improve our own game and furiously list build (it totally makes a 3 hr drive feel a lot more quicker too!). I describe it like we are the Zerg collecting essence to evolve into better players.
In addition, another win for us is our sportsmen attitudes we take around the competitions we go to. A lot of the times we will go out of our way to help the newer local players and ‘fly casual’ during matches and to help build the local Armada communities we’d give away a lot of the prizes since most of us already had them. We also built these relationships with the FLGS’s who were always happy to see us come back again.
The other thing about the Battle Bus is that its open to anyone in our area who was keen to travel to games that they normally couldn’t get to.
Anyways enough of my ranting, this game is so finely balanced on a knife’s edge that it caters for a whole range of list compositions and strategies and we love it! Here’s hoping for a great 2016 season!
Have a happy new year everyone!
