What lineage does Rey come from? [a Vote]

By Sergovan, in X-Wing Off-Topic

While she might be Kenobi's daughter she looks too young for that. Age would fit grand daughter better.

Or even great-grandaughter, if we go with "Obi-Wan sired a child during his time on Mandalore as a Padawan with Satine Kryze - but she kept that child's existence secret".

According to the Visual Dictionary Rey is 19 as of TFA, and TFA is 30 years after RoTJ (so 34 years after ANH).

Timeline fits. But I've never read any of the books or stories for the EU so I never considered it.

Evidently Padawans are randy devils.

That doesn't come from a book - but from the TCW series. It doesn' t say how close they got - but in the EU at least, there have been stories about Padawans getting "attached" and being warned to return to being detached.

If TCW stands for The Clone Wars, I haven't watched it or Rebels. I'm told I'm missing some good stories.

Rey's last name is Bridger so I'm guessing that means she's somehow related to Ezra

Can't unsee it now.

I suspect Rey is a Solo. In the 90s books Han and Leia have twins, however, this wouldn't really work. Maybe an older sibling of Kylos that Kylo kills, unbeknownst to him has a baby, that only Luke knows about. The baby is sent to live with a family on a planet to be kept safe (again, not like we haven't seen this story before) But the village is attacked, the family flees to Jakko (or whatever the name is). Maybe they do not survive the landing or something. Luke arrives at the first planet too late, sees the destruction, assumes everyone, including Rey are dead. Of course, somehow Han and Leia would have to have no idea that they are grandparents, or they too assumed the baby was killed in the attack.

Timeline's a bit cramped. Kylo is about 29. ROTJ takes place 30 years before TFA. Can't see Leia and Han having kids before ROTJ and then hiding them away.

In any case, Rey is 19, only 10 years younger than Kylo. Even an older sibling would be disturbingly young to be having Rey.

If you cherry pick them, yes. There are amazing story arcs - there also is quite a bit of Jar-Jar (mind you, even that isn't TPM level, I actually liked an arc he had with the nightsisters mother Talzin). Rebels I would recommend as a whole package right now, since there just isn't much there, yet, but there is quite a bit of slapstick filler.

I'd prefer Rey to not be related to anyone we know at all.

Owen's not a member of the Skywalker clan - he is Shmi's stepson, not son.

I've seen some theories about her being a Kenobi rather than a Skywalker (giving us more timeline room to play with) - but I can see why people consider it much less likely even if not impossible.

I had a chance to see TFA again with my nephews on Monday and I had to explain much to their 9 and 10 year old understanding of all things from the Force universe.

In this discussion I was trying to pin down who is Rey's Father or parents as it still has not been revealed.

Here are some of the possibilities. Rank them from the most possible to least possible as you see fit.

1) Rey Skywalker

2) Rey Palpatine

3) Rey Kenobi

4) Rey [unknown Jedi lineage]

5) Rey [non-Jedi lineage]

My gut leads me to 1, 3, 4, 5, 2.

I am going to have to go with Rey Star Killer / Marek. She looks more like Galen than any other main character, she has the same colored eyes and hair as him and she has an accent like Juno Eclipses accent. Also the guy that played as Star Killer was in EP 7 but his part wasn't reveled.

I'd bet skywalker.

Reasons:

Lukes sabre spoke to her

She was hidden or left on jakku for a reason

in her 'house' there was a doll in an xwing pilots flight suit (a crude one)

'the force is strong in our family' was used in the trailers. His daughter and Leias Son are both powerful force users if rey is his

Rey and Ben/Kylo Ren are clearly of comparible power

Two things though, I am not sure Lukes / Maras Light Sabre speaking to Rey means she is related, after all it never spoke to Luke when he took it at Bens home in ep IV.

Second JJ is known for making up lies in his trailers, paying the actors to lie during interviews about things that will or will not really happen, he also makes false scenes never intended to ever canonically be used in his movies. Heres a video showing the above.

Rey Binks !

Rey is probably Luke's daughter.

And when her cousin Ben went Vader on the Padawans, Gannis Ducain probably whisked her away aboard the Millennium Falcon to Jakku.

Ducain and possibly Luke and Rey's mom paid Unkar Platt to watch over Rey and hide her from her cousin. They probably also left the Falcon on Jakku as payment and/or escape vessel. All of this unbeknownst to the Irving Boys, who probably made off with the Falcon some time afterwards and Unkar Platt had to steal it back.

Honestly, the 'rebel pilot doll', 'ridiculously high *raw* untrained force ability (like luke, unlike leia) and the massive 'connection' to lukes sabre makes this a bit of a no brainer in my eyes.

Han and Leia are aware they had a son, and that son went off the rails, i cant see them both having total amnesia about losing a daughter and forgetting where they left her.

I am all for Rey Sidious or Rey Fett. Plot twists for dayz.

In the old EU, Fett had a granddaughter by this point, she could totally be an unwanted child of his son or daughter and left behind on Jakku.

Rey Sidious would just be really fun.
