Proximity Mine question from FAQ

By dhowtocor, in X-Wing Rules Questions

On page 3 there is an entry for Proximity Mine that appears to contradict the Rules Reference and the entry for Proximity Mine on page 13 of the FAQ. The entry reads:

"Note that a Proximity Mine token that is dropped

on a ship is placed under the ship’s base and does
immediately detonate. A ship is also considered to be
overlapping a Proximity Mine token when it executes a
maneuver, decloaks, or performs a boost or barrel roll.
I am misreading it? It seems to be saying placing it under a ship does not cause it to immediately detonate, even though the Rules Reference says the card text has to explicitly say it does not.

I think you might be mentally inserting a "not" into that first sentence. The FAQ says that the Proximity Mine "does immediately detonate."

Don't mess with my version of reality. ;-)

That happens A LOT!!! The sentence REALLY reads like there is supposed to be "Not" in there.

Yeah, the phrasing is a bit awkward.

There was one in there at one time but it has since been FAQ'd to NOT be there... :P

Used a prox mine to kill Whisper earlier tonight. Very Satisfying.

The faq also says that if it overlaps multiple ships only 1 ship is hit, mine owner picks, would this set precisely to other mines/conner net being dropped on multiple ships those don't have that in their faq?
