Conner and cluster mines hitting several ships

By Chetote, in X-Wing Rules Questions

Hi, as said in the title, I have a doubt about the effect of these mines when you drop them on top of two or more ships. I ask this because in the actual FAQ, in the proximity mine section is specified that the bomb droppers must choose one ship to suffer the mine effect. However, no specification is made about these new mines. My logic dictates that they should be treated like proximity mines for that matter, but do you know if there is an official answer?

The wording is the same in all cases, referring to a/the ship being affected, so there's no reason to expect them to behave differently.

Yeah, all mines that can hit more than one ship due to size should be treated the same.

FFG never says it, but seems to rely a great deal on precedence, so if something works a given way in one situation it's assumed all things will work the same way in the same situation.

For example using a TL to reroll 0 dice also means you can spend a focus token, or evade token to modify zero dice.

Now, you will find a big argument thread here on the order the mines go off if one mine of a cluster hits two ships and the adjacent mine is also touching one of the two. Its a fun read.

Very important to emphasize here, the cluster mine upgrade card is dropping THREE separate mine tokens. If the leftmost token hits one ship and the rightmost token hits a second ship, they will both go off (on their respective ships).

Like Darth just mentioned, there was a big discussion a while ago on what ORDER they go off in, but that shouldn't really be all that important most of the time.

Here is my question about the conner net. If you drop the token on a ship before it has moved does it detonate then or after they move?

If you drop the token on a ship before it has moved does it detonate then or after they move?

It detonates as soon as it's overlapped, which means if you drop it on a ship, it is overlapped right away. So it goes off before it moves.

However per the FAQ, if the ship has already set a dial then it does not suffer the effects of being Ionized until next turn. It does however skip its perform action step if it hasn't already taken it, but that does not carry over to the next turn.

Thank you for the clarification.

However, if an ionized ship gets hit by your Conner Net it discards the new token at the same time as the ones from previous rounds. So no laying a carpet of Conner Nets to keep a ship ionized.

bomb under 2 ships? the player that dropped the bomb gets to choose which ship wil suffer the damage. unless otherwise described on the card ( if everybody at range 1 will be hit)

standard only 1 ship will suffer the damage.
