The ultimate insta-gib.

By DraconPyrothayan, in X-Wing

In this game, Rexlar Brath with Opportunist can fire Cluster Missiles

That results in 7 attack dice.

Those 7 attack dice, with Rexlar's ability, can destroy a full-health Decimator.

  1. 4 dice go to killing the shields.
  2. 3 dice are crits to the hull.
  3. The top 7 cards of the damage deck must be a combination of Direct Hit! and Major Explosion
  4. The Major Explosions must both be in the top 4.
  5. The Major Explosions must pull cards every time they're activated (twice each with Rexlar's ability).

Even in a world where you assume the dice come out correctly, the odds of the deck-stack with the Major Explosion rolls are 9 lots in 105,313,214,400 tries, or appx 11.7 Billion to 1 (Milliard, if you prefer the old ways).

Multiplied by the odds of rolling 3 damage, followed by 1 damage and 3 crits (best achieved with Capt. Jonus and a spare Focus Token from a friendly Fleet Officer). Brath's native focus must be maintained to use his ability...

Yeah. Long odds, weird list, but absolutely legendary for the first person to pull it off.

If it happens, I just hope it's on a live stream at Worlds... by Paul Heaver.

Heaver's a rebel, he'd never run a Defender. Now seeing someone do it to Heaver, that'd be awesome.

Never tell me the odds

Because Decimators are Rebel?

But uhm.. Cluster missiles is the same attack twice, so both rolls would benefit from the extra die, right?

But uhm.. Cluster missiles is the same attack twice, so both rolls would benefit from the extra die, right?

No because the extra die gives you a stress token and you can't use a the ability if you already have stress.

But you can still be in range from the Shuttle that takes your stress and trigger Oppo twice

Okay, got that.

Seems just strange to me that Marksmanship works on every attack of the round and Opportunist doesn't.

Taking the stress on the ship itself is actually required to activate Opportunist.

Yorr taking the stress means that you don't get bonus dice at all...

FAQ, mate. Both have served their time there.

I've been thinking of making a prank damage deck that's all direct hits.

Stacking the deck and playing Rexlar like this would be pretty funny. Assuming you've stacked your opponent's cards right and you managed to swap his deck unnoticed, what are the chances of the dice going your way? Haha.

THE instagib I've seen was Crab-bro firing at naked Chiraneau.

(no shields, but isard not in effect, no damage cards)

3 mangler attacks, 1 crit, 2 blanks

TL

2 more crits.

skill 0

loses pilot ept and ability

all turns are red.

I can call that CRAB FOOD

not one-shot, but instant turn into a vegetable state

Hmm this painfully reminds me of a poker story.

I was showing A/K/Q spades. I was out to bluff the hand [so I thought] and ended up folding against one remaining guy all in. I was highly intox and after pitching/drawing 2, raising etc I finally folded..

then a bystander said "holy **** you had it!!!!!"

Thats right folks, I folded the only royal flush of my life.

Morale of the story: it might only happen once, but it DOES happen so be ready to capitalize or forever bear the shame.

Paul would still win;-)
