Magnitude

Reading over the thread above (magnitude upgrades for battle meditation) and then looking at other magnitude upgrades on other force powers, I was curious.

Do all of the magnitude upgrades work the same way? e.g. the magnitude for the Foresee Control: Initiative Power, can a force user affect more than just 2 people?

Ok, so I have done some digging and there definitely is a difference among the descriptions of Magnitude, albeit a small one.

The difference can be split into three groups:

Ones with the word "additional" in it. e.g. Battle Meditation: Spend FP to affect a number of additional targets equal to Presence per rank of Magnitude purchased.

Ones with the word "increase" in it. e.g. Move: Spend FP to increase targets affected equal to Magnitude upgrades purchased.

And Warde Foresee which has neither "Additional" or "Increase" in it.

So now my question now is, why the difference? If they are all suppose to function the same, then why change the wording?

Are the Magnitude Upgrades with the word "increase" capped by the number of upgrades purchased?

If so, then are the Magnitude Upgrades with the word "additional" capped by the number of FP spent times the number of upgrades purchased?

I believe that all the Magnitude, Range, and Strength upgrades are written the same way for all the powers.

At the time, I was specifically looking at the Foresee power, and how that might be applicable to multiple party members. But then the GM had to bow out due to complications resulting from a new job, and I took over as the replacement GM. So, what had been my PC got turned into an NPC, and character development effectively halted.

Now that the former GM is hopefully back as a player, and we appear to have another player coming back in, we might have enough PCs on the ground that I can retire my PC/NPC, and stick to just representing the “bad guys”.

You might also try revolving gm duties. It takes a special group tobpull it off, but can be fun.

Yes, but in the thread that I link (it is in the Force & Destiny Forum), there is general consensus that the Magnitude Upgrade can be activated for as many times as the force user has pips to use. Letting a force user to be able to affect as much as 65 people if they have a FR4 and a Presence of 5.

I agree that all of the upgrades are written similar, then what makes the Magnitude upgrades for Battle Meditation so different?
