When can we quit calling the threads spoilers, and start talking about the ships without reprisal?

Chinese spoiler:

韩独奏死清创

Edited by ViscerothSWG

Why should we worry about catering to the Chinese?

What does someone's nation have to do with it? We should keep spoilers in the appropriate threads until the majority of the X-Wing community has had a chance to see the movie. Where they live doesn't really matter.

But again, exactly what reason is there to post spoilers in any thread that isn't talking about the movie and/or canon?

There is simply no reason to mention a plot point of the movie when that isn't the subject being discussed.

why not just post on any of the 50 threads already dedicated to the movie.... That way idk you won't have to add "spoiler alert" to a new thread's title maybe?

...or even just read the exact same thread which was posted yesterday?

I would just like to put in a friendly plug in for the men and woman of our armed services. It's very easy for them to be in a situation where they don't have the luxury of going to a movie theater, yet will have ready access to the internet. For them, regardless of how much of a diehard Star Wars fan they are, they simple can't see the movies until they are released for mass sales. If you support our men and woman fighting for us, then spend one seconds writing "spoilers" in your thread topic. Even if you don't support them as Airman, Soldiers, Sailors and Marines, how about supporting them as a fellow Star Wars fan and don't ruin it for them?

There's nothing really to talk about regarding the movie and any spoilers for it, that involve X-Wing the game.

So there is no reason to post spoilers in any thread that isn't already discussing the movie.

The only thing that really could be considered a spoiler in terms of X-wing or Armada is well the lack of ships. But as the days move on it is becoming more and more obvious that TFA has not brought any new material to the Starship aspect of Star Wars other than what was in the new core set.

For Imperial Assault that could be a different story. so on the Imperial Assault boards you have to be more careful at least until the middle of next month. But yeah by now usually the people that care about spoilers had already saw it. For those who are still unable to see it (I used to be one of those people) usually they've been accustomed to seeing movies and games after all the spoilers have been leaked and are often more concern with more serious matters so spoilers tend to not offend them as much as other fans.

When people understand what the Off Topic forum is actually for and use it.

Am I the only one who avoided the Internet from 15th December until after I saw the movie?

Why?

Because I assumed those who enjoyed the movie would want to talk about what they loved. Anyone who hated the movie would be ranting about it. Others would want to debate it like the intellectuals they imagine themselves to be.

Who am I to rain on their parade!?

Don't want spoilers? Don't go near Star Wars websites, blogs, forums, podcasts, YouTube, Google +1 etc until you've seen it.

Simple.

I totally agree.

Its been almost two weeks now. Plenty of time to see it for most people

It's up to the individual to screen themselves for spoilers at this point

Some people aren't theater people, especially as our technology changes. I only saw Force Awakens in the theater so I didn't have to worry about spoilers anymore. Most people I know wait for movies to come out on home releases. Usually I can do that and don't run into spoilers, even for big movies, but Star Wars is huge.

Now, obviously, people are going to be talking about it, whether they're trying to troll you or not. I avoided the internet for awhile (and only ended up getting spoiled because of someone I know in real life), so it definitely goes both ways.

But the "you're not a true fan if you don't go to the theaters on opening day" (or even in the first couple of weeks) thing is ridiculous.

The most important thing here though, is that there's not really anything to spoil that's relevant to this forum.

You mean the place where old posts go to die? I'm one of those horrible people that doesn't frequent the sub-forums. While a nice idea, I think they are ignored by enough of us that they are a failure as anything but grouping stuff only specialized groups care about. And TFA is not one of those things... I'll stick to prefacing things with "spoiler" before I relegate my post into obscurity.

Any time you want.

Concerned about spoilers? Go see the movie or get off the internet. Society is not collectively responsible for protecting your plot innocence.

Soylent Green is people.

Verbal Kint is Keyser Soze.

Miranda Tate is Talia al Ghul.

Sophie is the last descendant of Jesus.

Rosebud was a sled.

Jocasta is Oedipus's mother.

Benjamin was Caroline's father.

Leonard Shelby accidentally killed his wife.

Jason's mother was the murderer.

Katherine is Evelyn's sister and her daughter.

Ivan is a figment of Trevor Reznik's imagination.

So is Tyler Durden.

Thing is, spoilers don't actually spoil anything. Even if you know certain facts of a plot, it's the experience of getting there that makes a story worthwhile. The narrative journey is more important than a fleeting moment of surprise. If that moment is so crucially important to you, it's up to you to avoid spoilers yourself.

Ehhhh not really.

Let's do the ultimate spoiler, no, not snape killed dumbledore.

Doctor Malcolm Crowe in the Sixth Sense is a ghost throughout the entire movie (except for like 2 minutes at the start.

Sometimes knowing stuff, being prepared for it does leave a little out of the experience.

Probably when the movie is no longer in theatres.

Yeah let's not be courteous, after all it takes *forever* to put the word "spoilers" in a thread title. Far too much work for a busy dude like me.

I only was able to see the movie today for the first time (of many), due to reasons. Already one important thing that happened late in the movie was spoiled to me on facebook and it took away a bit from the impact of the scene when I actually saw it.

Imo, once the movie is out of the cinema, it should be free to spoil anything, But the first 2 or 3 weeks after the movie's premiere would be a dangerous zone.

You mean... The Danger Zone!

sorry, doesn't ring a bell

So far i've had to change my reply 4 times.

I've gone through comments regarding 80's gay AIDs.

The hilarity of North Korea being a military threat.

Comments about the homoerotic volleyball and shower scenes.

And of course, Kenny Loggins beard.

God I love that movie.

I thought that project got scrapped?

supposedly thems makin a nu one.

You mean they remade Point Break, but scrapped a remake of Top Gun???

Nooooooooooo. I didn't here that news. :(

I guess I don't understand the idea of 'why shouldn't I spoil someone's fun' or 'why should I be bothered to be nice or courteous'. Sure anyone can be a butt but a little kindness goes a long way.

I just don't get the argument. Because being courteous is all it really is and putting *Spoiler* in the title isn't even that hard.

I wish there was a separate forum for spoilers, someone on this forum spoiled part of the movie for me. It sucked.
