Character Feedback and Questions

By KalElKenobi1138, in Star Wars: Force and Destiny RPG

Hey guys I'm a first time DM for this system and I'm going to be playing my own character as well. I know it's a monumental task, but I think I can do it. Anyways, here's my character, any feedback is appreciated, but I do have some questions. Sorry about the size differences my scanner is all weird right now since I'm still learning it.

1. Is Force Rating calculated by Force Talents (the ones with the burst in the corner) or only the talents that specifically say to increase it by one?

2. I'm confused as to the cost of activating force powers. Where do I find the cost and how does it work with upgrades?

3. The force power I chose is Enhance, and it says to make an Enhance Power Check. Is this done simply by adding the force die to my role or some other way?

4. I keep seeing something about non-force sensitive characters getting more experience since force sensitives are granted and automatic FR of 1. I own all three FFG Star Wars RPG books and can't find anything specific, but the number I keep hearing from other people who've played say its around 20 xp. Can I get some clarification on this?

1. Only the talents that specifically say to increase it. Your force rating starts at 1, granted to you by your career. The Force Talents require someone to be Force Sensitive (Meaning they have a baseline Force rating of at least 1) to make use of them.

2. The cost should be listed in the basic power. Those little half black/half white circles are called Force points, and those represent the cost to use a Force power. When you activate a Force power, you roll a number of the white Force dice equal to your Force rating and that will show you how many points you have to spend. Players will likely all start out as lightside characters, meaning that if they roll a black force point and want to use it, they have to flip a Destiny Point and then suffer 1 strain for each dark point they want to use. The upgrades will either give you extra things you can spend Force Points on or will allow you to commit a Force die, which doesn't need a roll, but costs one action and reduces your Force Rating by 1 for each turn that die is committed.

3. Each of the Force Powers will ask you to make an "X Power Check" where X is the name of the power. This refers to just rolling your Force dice. You don't need to roll for a skill unless the power tells you to. In some cases with very powerful enemies, the GM may have you make an opposed skill check against the enemy even if the power doesn't ask you to. If a power asks you to make a skill check, you must succeed at the skill check AND generate enough force points to activate the power.

4. The careers in this book all grant you 6 career skills and a free rank in three of them, as well as giving you a starting Force Rating of 1. The careers in other books instead grant you 8 career skills and a free rank in 4 of them. So the Force-Sensitive careers grant you two less career skills and one less free skill rank, which I suppose is equivalent to around 20xp. In other words, these careers are already balanced with ones from other books, and you won't need to change anything.

Let me know if you have more questions.
