DL-44 attachments

By Andreievitch, in Star Wars: Edge of the Empire RPG

I have always been a fan of the Mauser Broomhandle, which problem comes from my love for Han's blaster since I was a kid. I am now making up a Blasterslinger who will use 2 x DL-44, but I had a thought for some attachments for when I want to snipe or go for long range.

As I don't have a lot of the books, I was hoping to know if anything like the below exists:

1. Attachable stock to help add accuracy

2. Barrel attachment to help add range

Obviously I would be dual wielding with these attached. Does anything like this exist, or should I find a techie to make them for me and we will house rule it?

There's nothing that adds/increases Accuracy for pistol-sized weapons (yet). However, Superior and Laser Sight lets you add Advantage to a shot (only ones that hit if you're using a laser sight) which is pretty good. The Hair Trigger (?) from Fly Casual gives you one additional Success on the first attack roll in a combat encounter at the cost of also generating one Threat.

Also, there's an armour attachment that gives you a rank in Sniper Shot for one HP. That extends your range by one band.

The armor attachment is probably your best be.

Stay on Target has the pistol with swappable barrel and stock like you describe, but doing so changes it to ranged heavy. I get the feeling the whole thing about ranged light is limiting range in exchange for maneuverability and weight.

FFG has chosen to keep Attack rolls Skill based in regards to generating the first Hit. Bonuses to Attack rolls are generated by actions (i.e. Aim) or benefits from other rolls (applying Boost dice with Advantages). Equipment doesn't add to this directly but rather indirectly by reducing or increasing Range and adding to Advantages generated.

I wrote an article about useful ranged weapon attachments recently. :)

Pistols in this game really aren't built for long range sniping like you're asking about. The Telescopic Optical Sight reduces the difficulty of a check at Long and Extreme range, but it won't increase it's max range from Medium to Long, so useless.

I did see another post talking about removable stocks for pistols, but I guess the thing is that a stock doesn't provide a bonus for a rifle or a carbine, so you can't expect it to when used on a pistol.

I think the angle I will go is:

1. Marksman Barrel - which can be detached when not needed. This is increase the range for the pistol. I will consult the GM for additional cost to be detachable.

2. Detachable stock to be used in carbine mode - probably for flavour only. Maybe they come as a set if you don't attach the stock and barrel at the same time then the encumbrance increases due to being unwieldy.
