XXBB Blue Squadron. Is it competitive?

By Lanthal, in X-Wing Squad Lists

Hi guys,

I've been flying scum for ages but with the new Store Champs season coming up I'm switching back to rebels for a while.

Playing around with a few squads but wanted an opinion on whether this list would be competitive in the current Meta?

2x Blue Sq. Novice w/ Autothrusters

2x Blue Sq. B-wing w/ FCS

I see an issue with turrets for the B-wings but if I can get the four ships to focus-fire down the turrets I *think* that I can get them to burn pretty quickly. I imagine that a 4xTLT Y-wing list could prove to be a bother though.

Arc dodgers could also prove to be an issue.

Obviously has some weaknesses, but I love the idea of the Blue Squadron. Definitely worth a try, IMO.

I do not use B-Wings so I can't comment on that, however, I can give you an alternative to look in to should you not find a build. I know how much people want to use the new T-70's, so I did some Brain Storming with a Tournament player. This is what we came up with:

3x X-Wing (T65): Rookie Pilot x2, Tarn Mison with R7 Astromech
1x T-70 X-Wing: Ello Asty with Out Maneuver

It is possible to use the R7-T1 AstroMech on Ello but, it was decided the best thing to do is use Out Maneuver due to the R7-T1 requiring you to be in the firing arc of the enemy. Out Maneuver is something Ello can Tallon Roll, or Boost in to. This will require a considerable amount of planning, and tactics to pull off. If it works, Ello becomes a hard hitting back stabber due to Out Maneuver lowering the Agility of your enemy by 1 (if you are outside their firing arc).

The decision behind Tarn was because of the 33 point cost on Ello. Ello only has 6 total HP making it one of the lower HP ships for its cost. Instead of spending another 3 points to have both the R7-T1 and Out Maneuver, we decided to use those points to upgrade one of the T-65's. Think about it.. If Ello dies that is 36 points gone. It's best to use those points to ensure the survival of one of the ships.

Tarn is one of the cheapest, and most defensive T-65's available. His Pilot Ability allows him to get a Target Lock on his attacker. The R7 allows Tarn to use that Target Lock to force the attacker to re-roll the dice.

I hope that all helps
