300 / 400 Point Builds

By Enacht, in Star Wars: Armada Fleet Builds

After I demo the game at the store I would like to show what bigger more competitive games look like so that people can get an idea for how the game actually plays in a semi-competitive environment. To that end I could use some help coming up with some 300 / 400 pt lists for the Empire; I have Rebel squared away.

I currently have the following available to me: ISD, VSD x2, Gladiator, Squadron x2, Rogues and Villains.

My 300 pt list was probably going to be based on VSD x2, Gladiator and maybe a squadron or two.

My 400 pt list was probably going to be based on an ISD and VSD with the VSD acting a carrier with the ISD providing fire support from a distance. I would be using my squadrons to move the Rhymer ball up the field as I would in a competitive game. This is more or less the same list posted above in these forums called 'Screw the Activations' with a few of the squadrons switched around.

I don't want to overwhelm new people with complicated rules or lengthy squadron phases but I do want to demonstrate the depth of the game and provide interesting battles that show off the big ISD and Home One ships as they are big draws at the FLGS.

I am interested in seeing this s.

Yanking ideas from other threads I've come up with my 400 pt list that allows me to showcase the giant Star Destroyers as well as how squardrons work:

[ EMPIRE FLEET (394 points)
1 • Imperial I-class Star Destroyer (110)
2 • Victory I-class Star Destroyer - Admiral Motti - Boosted Comms - Corrupter (106)
3 • Victory I-class Star Destroyer (73)
4 • Major Rhymer TIE Bomber Squadron (16)
5 • TIE Bomber Squadron (9)
6 • TIE Bomber Squadron (9)
7 • TIE Bomber Squadron (9)
8 • Firespray-31 (18)
9 • TIE Advanced Squadron (12)
10 • Dengar Punishing One (20)
11 • TIE Advanced Squadron (12)

My 300 point build is designed to sweep enemy squadrons from the field and support the Gladiator as it pushes forward to smash anything of high value while the VSD provides mid-long range support and acts as a carrier for the squadrons. Thoughts?

[ EMPIRE FLEET (296 points)

2 • Gladiator II-class Star Destroyer - Intel Officer - Expanded Launchers (82)
3 • ''Howlrunner'' TIE Fighter Squadron (16)
4 • TIE Interceptor Squadron (11)
5 • TIE Interceptor Squadron (11)
6 • TIE Interceptor Squadron (11)
7 • ''Mauler'' Mithel TIE Fighter Squadron (15)

Your ISD and/or Gladiator -class make better carriers due to the Victory -class being so slow. I know that the Gladiator -class has only 2 squadron rating, but 2 where you need it is better than the Victory- class' 3 when it's on the other side of the board.

I would have thought ISD, Glads and Raiders make for a better showcase. Raiders blowing up is far more exciting to watch than VSDs failing to fire.
