List Building 2.0

By DerBaer, in Imperial Assault Skirmish

When I heard Paul Heaver talking about his mysterious excel list, that can calculate how powerful all the Deployment Cards are, I was fascinated. I did know, that 4x4 was overpowered enough for me. So I thought: "When - in a future far far away - the meta will change extremely, so that 4x4 is no longer obviously the best list, then I will make such a spreadsheet myself."

And then there was the FAQ 2.0 ...

I used some math and came up with some things, I would like to test, just to see, if my math is correct.

Activation maximum: This is not as strong as it was before passing was allowed, but it is still strong. At the moment, 12 activations are the maximum:

Rebels 12Act

Alliance Smuggler x4

Rebel Saboteur x4

Gideon Argus

+ On a diplomatic mission

R2-D2

C-3PO

Mak Eshka'rey

=> 12 activations, none of which is extremely powerful. But for their points, they are all great, except for Mak. Mak Eshka'rey ain't good. He is there solely for the 12th activation. Maybe I should replace him for Rebel High Command and Balance of the Force or to upgrade regular Saboteurs to elite.

Then I thought, that twelve activations are more that you need, so I came up with:

Rebels 9Act

Rebel High Command

Balance of the Force

Alliance Smuggler x2

Rebel Saboteur Elite x2

Rebel Saboteur x2

Gideon Argus

+ On a diplomatic mission

R2-D2

C-3PO

This seems to be an aweful lot of support. Maybe, I should rather skip R2-D2 and Balance of the Force for 2 Alliance Smugglers?

I love Wookies and math says, that they are great. They are definitely better than the nerfed Royal Guards.

Wookies

Rebel High Command

Wookie Warriors x4

Gideon Argus

+ On a diplomatic mission

C-3PO

Having mentioned 4x4: It's not as overpowered as it was, but this list is still OK.

For Mercs, I think regular Wampas, regular Trandoshans and Elite Tuskens are great. Maybe the Bantha is too?

I came up with:

Devious Scheme
Wampa
Trandoshan Hunter
Trandoshan Hunter
Tusken Raider Elite
Tusken Raider Elite
Temporary Alliance
Gideon Argus
C-3PO

What do you think?

If anyone tested any new lists after FAQ 2.0, please feel free to post your results. What did you come up with after FAQ 2.0 was released?

Did you come up with an excel sheet like his?

I haven't seen his, but I did something, that is intended to fulfil the same purpose.

It's hard to evaluate support figures, so I don't have any valid result for R2-D2 and C-3PO yet. The rest of the figures above is great by my calculation (except for Mak, he is just cheap.). The question is: Is my formular good enough?

Are you sure nerfed basic sabs are better than Jyn? I'd think that losing the point of speed and doing less damage in some situations would probably be enough to make them worse.

Jyn and the Saboteurs are pretty close. Jyn depends on how good your opponent is. When he is good enough to avoid Hair Trigger all game, then she is definitely worse than the Saboteurs. My calculations assume good players. Therefore, I don't include Jyn.

But wouldn't a good player then be able to position her in a way that she has an effect on the game. She might not actually fire the Hair Trigger, but if she force choices for your opponent it may well be worth it. I wouldn't say that I'm a good player, but man she has been annoying in some games, really forcing me to think about who to activate and if I want to try and take her down before she gets to Hair Trigger on my main dude etc.

The problem with Jyn is, that you can easily block her LOS with another already activated figure. Moreover you can place Jyn in front just if you have someone close who gives cancel surge(Han/c3po), otherwise you will give easy 5 VP's to the enemy.
