Resistance is not futile (spoilers)

By Blue 1 TR, in X-Wing

Before "the movie" I bought the starter box.

I'd already started playing X-Wing with the original starter box, and have a small collection, but then came the new box.

When it arrived, I found myself looking at the T-70 X-Wing and liking the look of it more than the T-65. In every game I played using the T-65 it got destroyed. In every game I played against the T-65 I destroyed it. Since I liked the T-70, I hoped it would perform better.

:)

Oh joy

It did

Playing through each of the starter missions, the T-70 won every time. Perhaps I am one with the starfighter, the T-70 melding with a subconscious play style I didn't know I had. I've ordered two expansions, and plan on having a full squadron in my future.

This will be the start of a sequel trilogy collection.

Not really bothered about a square dish Millennium Falcon, but I hope to see the ship General Leia arrives on. I'm not certain, but there's a Mon Calamari who looked and sounds like Admiral Ackbar. Is there a more perfect opportunity to add an Admiral Ackbar crew card to games of X-Wing?

I plan to collect First Order too. Really like the the Tie/FO, and hope to see the stormtrooper "U-Boat" transport and Ren "Black Bat" shuttle.

But for now, I'm building my T-70 Blue Squadron and can't wait to fly them against other fleets.

I felt the same, hence I snagged 3 of the expansions of the T-70, since I as of yet don't have TFA core set, so no Dameron, but soon... Ello Asty on the other hand.. WOW.

Poe Dameron is great teamed with BB-8 and weapons guidance. At least I found that combo a winner

Poe and BB-8 are excellent, but Poe himself is just fantastic with just about any upgrades you give him.He offers so much flexibility for both offense and defence that just about any droid can make him a winner. :3

My next flight will be with R2-D2

But BB-8 allowing barrel rolls really helped in a couple of games when I used the little droid and asteroids to maximum effect. Asteroid hid me from one Tie while I shot the second in it's rear arc.

Ah

Happy memories

Agreed. That little bit of movement really can make all the difference. I've never been great with anticipating my opponents' movement so BB has quickly become Poe's best friend. BB probably also works well with Ello, and even though the PS is weird, Blue Ace.

On the start of the topic I think we could use a Rey pilot for the Falcon and a Finn crew card. What do you think? :3c

my experience with the t-70 is that it dies just as hard as the t-65, apart from Poe

difference is it flies like a dream, while the t-65 flies like a brick

I'm happy with round dish falcon, but the crew cards for Rey, Finn and even BB-8 would be welcome. Pilot card too for Rey. Can't think of what they add, perhaps white k-turns or ignore obstacles for Rey and Finn can focus when stressed. Quite lame suggestions but I'm sure better opinions are already out in the forum.

I think it's the flying that has given it better survivability, as well as allowing for outmanoeuvring enemy ships. Plus, asteroids don't scare me now. They're my allies.

One of my favorite aspects of X-wing is that maneuver often decides the game, so the options afforded by the T-70 have definitely won me over; 2 core sets plus an expansion, making a total of 3 x T-70s for abusing my opponents.

works for me. I've come to the same conclusion about Tie Fighters v Tie/FOs :P

only problem is X-wings weren't efficient for their price, and the T-70s continue the trend :(

oh well, they're still decent overall (definitely not in the poor scyk's position)

I find T-65 with integrated Astromechs to be a great value for the point atm. Poe is only real standout on the T-70 in my experience.

See I don't buy into the whole jousting efficiency math, as if my ships are jousting my plans have flown out the window anyway.

the problem with jousting values is that they'll apply whether you want to or not

especially against the idiocy of PWTs <_<

what many people tend to forget is that they're not the absolute, they're simply an indication of how well they trade dice with other ships. Low jousting value = you better compensate in other ways, such as the FO's immaculate dial + TL + pilot abilities.

the X-wing (t-65) cannot compensate in other ways (apart from bb-8; wheeeeeeeeeeeeee) without the overpriced engine upgrade eating their integrated slot. The T-70 has more tricks (re: boost; t-rolls) but it's very expensive for being so frail.

say what you want about the FO being less efficient than the Tie, it's still very cheap (and ridiculous for its price, re: Omega and Zeta leaders). The T-70 sadly cannot boast the same (apart from Poe, who is pretty legit) -_-

Poe with Predator and R5-P9 is my current favorite. Throw Autothrusters on him too and he's extremely well rounded. Offensively he has his ability and a reroll. Defensively he has his ability and, assuming range 3/turret, he gets a blank to an evade. Then he regens a shield every turn with the focus he hasnt spent.
