Hey all,

Just wondering if anyone has any good (preferably painted) examples of these two Shapeways finishes? Trying to figure out which one I want to get... I really want something that looks like it came from the factory, but if I can go with Ultra that would be nice because of the cost...

Hi, in my experience you do not need the most expensive version!

The only problem I have encountered with shapeways is bending during shipment. If you have long antennas or cannons (2cm or longer) that are sticking out of the model I would recommend building a support cage around them that you can snip off once the model arrives at your house.

Shapeway models unbend easily. Just run them under hot water till they become malleable.

Also some guides will tell you too soak them in chemicals to clean them.

DON'T!!!!!

They are stripping all the detail off. They will always seem a little waxy. The frosted models should not be hard and white colored. Just wash them with hand soap and an old toothbrush.
