E-wings. What's their deal?

By Arratak, in X-Wing Squad Lists

So I really love the E-wing. I find it's the comparable ship to the tie defender.

Although I feel like I'm getting rammed hard for taking it. It's faster then a T-70 x-wing, with no boost? What the heck?

The tie defender straight 3's across the board and we're down a hull point.

Becuase of no internal boost. We can't take auto thrusters either.

Hard to build for defense.

So far, I'm tooling corran horn with:

Fire control system

R7 astromech

Predator

I'm going rebel veterans come with an improved e-wing some sort of -pt cost title or modifications to improve it to where it resembles it's pt cost.

Thoughts?

I use Corran Horn with Marksmanship, Advanced Sensors, and R2-D2.

Hopefully a negative squad point card will be on its way in the future as they do seem to be overcoated but I love them the same!

They may not have a natural boost but they have an amazing dial and access to astromechs makes them very versatile.

You say they are hard to build defence for but R2D2 E-Wing is one of the toughest ships I fly, adding on a shield upgrade if I can afford to. Plus the named pilots have great abilities. Corran is tournament level in the correct hands and I view Etahn as having a built in Mangler cannon so I view him as 4 points of free mangler plus an "always-on" ability that benefits your whole squad.

The genetics don't have enough special to make the ship worth it alone but build your list around an ace and you are onto a winner

I was thinking of getting one of these but I don't know what to do with them.

I use Corran as a flanker. With his double tap ability with Marksmanship makes him an offensive power house. Advanced Sensors will let him preform an action before a k-turn, or to dodge an asteroid before movement. Then R2-D2 will increase his longevity.

The only reason why you can find an E-Wing in tournaments is because of Corran. Like you mentioned before, it is equivalent to the Defender, and both ships suffer the same problem. They may have good offense and defense, but the pilots aren't to great (excluding Mr. Horn). They are also over costed, and usually it isn't worth using more than one in a list.

The cool thing about Corran is that he can adapt with almost any upgrade. You can have him defensively based, with maybe sensor jammer and stealth device. Or more offensive, with PTL and, well you get the idea. To get the E-Wing to fit in your list, you have to know how to fly it. You have to know how to use it in your list, whether you want it more like a hit-and-run, or more like a fly-in-and-shoot-everything kind of deal. Hope this helps.
