The Dice Are Strong With This One

By Aritheall, in Star Wars: Imperial Assault

Sometimes, the Dice hate me, and sometimes they favor me. Anyone else have tragic tales or miraculous events regarding these fickle gods of fate?

For me, it seems my luck manifests only in campaign. I had a run of rolling three-blocks about eight times in a row. It got to the point where my playgroup literally demanded that they roll the imperial defensive die instead of me. I feared for my life if the trend continued even with this change, but thankfully it seems only mine hands were blessed that night. They still lost the mission, but got to wreak some vengeance on the pesky un-killalbe troopers.

Skirmish however, treats me poorly. Or at least it did last night. Either that or Luke has some kinda hidden force talent that lets him reach out from the deployment card and alter rolls in reality. Elite Wampa rolled for 8 damage, but hit only air (1 dodge), then a focused Dengar had a shot, but musta tripped on some discarded bottles on the floor (second dodge). My trusty HK's laugh at the white die, or at least tried to, but even their advanced and adaptive weapons could not touch the boy wonder (two more dodge it all's in a row, from the re-roll). Thankfully, my brother "got cocky" with this luck and didn't even run with Luke, and I decided to bury him in Tuskin raiders, since the game was decided by that point anyway. He rolled one more dodge before vanishing under a deluge of Gaffi sticks. Was still a fun game, and my brother had never rolled a dodge before that night, so it was kinda his due.

Whats your story of luck or ill fate? Any ridiculous rolls, rapidly repeated, rendering routed results?

Oh boy. Playing the "capture the t16 sky hopper" skirmish map that came with the core set. The rebels were clustered in a doorway with nowhere to run or go into cover. My ATST unleashes laser hell on them. Luke, who was in front, somehow manages to dive out of the way. Next round, I fire again, this time on Han. Dodge. Diala? Dodge. Rebel troopers who have a measily 3 HEALTH? Dodge. It went on for several turns, rebels chipping away my walkers health all the while. They finally bring down the lumbering beast, after Luke dodges. Again. I lost terribly that night.
